I think that's because most assets are streamed in from a server. Like even if your pc is high-end with the best internet, it'll be borked because the servers on EA's side aren't performant enough. The small-ish install size always seemed a bit sus to me.

I get your point, but it's unfortunately not the case. The game currently hasn't been pirated or modded yet, something that did happen during the earliest pre-alpha in 2022/2023. They decrypted the files of that build and quickly made an offline version. What we have is mostly just the Frostbite engine with some minor assets.

I've played other online fastpaced sports games where assets load instantly. If I go slightly too fast in skate, the assets stop loading in.

Season 3 is changing how Tix work — they won’t roll over anymore, even the ones you bought. So if you don’t spend them before the season ends, the game will auto-spend them on skate.Pass rewards starting from the last page you unlocked (highest rarity first). Anything left after that? Gone. Devs said too many people were either losing Tix or sitting on way too many, so this is the fix. On the bright side, Season 3 is bringing more branded gear and yes… tattoos are finally here. Spend your Tix, don’t get caught slippin’.

Yes the 70' were huge for skating. The problem is that based on previous passes, this one will have very little if anything to do with the HISTORY of skating. 80's pass scratched the surface with knee pads but that's it besides a pink helmet. If they're going to do decade seasons in a skate game they should add some related items. Imagine if we got some old school deck shapes, grind rails for your board, etc. then I could see the argument for decade theming

I would understand if it was a full 1.0 game, but as long as it's in early access, there is a chance for each season, or big update to bring the changes you want and the players it needs. It’s such a polarising game. Very interesting.
It’s a terrible game. I said so once last year and deleted it. Spent £8.
At the end of this year I would consider downloading it again after seeing the new road map.
In defence of the devs (to my surprise) their season pass is no different to others. The access to the new place isn’t pay locked. You can pay upfront as per or you can pay via in game currency.
You also got pretty much what players asked for too coming down the pipe.

You’re right that their pass is similar to most other live service games. That’s fine. The issue is they made it a point, for years, to say only cosmetics would be paywalled. They explicitly said, for years, maps would not be paywalled.

That’s the issue. We would have been fine if they were upfront years ago and said map expansions would be paywalled- especially if we’re getting them frequently.

But to have the game out for over 6 months and now just finally release a paywalled expansion- which is just a reworked part of the game already- is what everyone is up in arms about.
