FWIW this is definitely an executive/publisher problem, not a studio/developer problem. EA has made some pretty bonkers decisions in the past, and because of their financial success with Ultimate Team and yearly releases in their sports games, they expect every developer to make a money maker on a tight budget, but some games with high potential require more investment. EA can’t expect a game to be successful if they put in the minimal amount of investment.

It honestly feels a bit closer to Skate 3 right now, especially in how forgiving the flick window seems. Tricks come out more consistently even if your timing isn’t perfectly dialed, which was very much Skate 3’s vibe compared to the slightly stricter, weightier feel of Skate 2. That said, there are moments where it feels like they’re trying to split the difference, so you’re not imagining it. They’ve probably been tuning it to land somewhere familiar but still responsive enough for a live game environment.

As for tuna pasta, here’s a solid, no-nonsense version:
Boil about 8–12 oz of pasta (penne or fusilli works best) in salted water until al dente. While that’s cooking, sauté 2–3 cloves of minced garlic in olive oil over medium heat until fragrant. How to Make It

Form it loose.

I don’t think it’s fair to impart all the blame on the devs as with most things stakeholders / directors are gonna be pulling the strings here and making it so heavily oriented round $$. Something either pivoted in the beginning or halfway through development, look at Cuz Parry during some of the Q&A promo and when asked about things like micro transactions etc he looks dead. Everyone else apart of it ultimately has a job to do, but it doesn’t mean players / fans aren’t being screwed any less. You either continue as is and let them get away with it or don’t play, which results in the project getting canned and everyone loses. EA are unfortunately scum of the earth and are on the middle of an acquisition so I can’t imagine they’re focusing on this game at all

I don't know if anyone has already raised this question here, but I genuinely think that if the game were paid but had 100% of the essence of skateboarding, it would be more interesting. Sk8 3 had much more of the culture present in it and even so, it attracted casual players who don't care much about that and don't even like skateboarding, because it was fun. The game is fun, but it seems like a fantasy of what skateboarding is. If the game were paid, I believe it wouldn't have hit the numbers it did, obviously, but certainly the development would be focused on the niche that really loves skateboarding and the franchise, having a story mode, various brands, pros, and the culture. I consume skateboarding every day, and when I enter the game for a casual session, I can have fun, but it feels like I'm playing some mod of another generic game. (This isn't a criticism of the graphics, I actually like them, but rather about the lack of culture).

I think they planned on doing one thing but for some reason it just wouldn’t have worked being live service and always on-line. In order for the stadium to be created parks, you’d need to load into a private server every time.
