I think the events are poorly thought out and implemented even more poorly. The themes are pretty loose and also seem random and don't have anything to do with the map other than the community parks. Having some tasks be riddles was maybe a cute idea but doesn't make actual sense in the game.

I think they thought they’d attract skaters, skate fans, and casuals.

Skaters and previous skate players have been turned off by this direction, and casuals don’t play skateboarding games. They play shooters and racers and world builders. I mean really think about- what non-skateboarder or non-skateboarding game fan is going to play skate? Fortnite and all those games are fun because people love going around and pew pewing and stuff.

It just seems like a really fatal oversight.

And that’s fine I guess, but once again- do kids even want to play skateboarding games? I don’t think they do. Maybe an extremely niche group of them. But even then, it’s probably less than the gamers who grew up with skate and have disposable incomes now.

This is why bands like blink-182 can easily sell out arenas in 2026 with high ticket prices becuase they know their fan base is mostly 30-40 year olds with money to spend.

One last rant about this game’s direction. I rarely see people skating around in those goofy paid costumes. But I always see people skating around in the paid real cosmetics like all of the Adidas shoes, the vans shoes, etc. Can’t imagine what it would be like if they released Nike. There’s no way they make more money from the goofy costumes than they do the real clothing.

For Valentine’s Day if they released a pair of pink SB Dunks or something.. they’d make bank. That’s all they have to do. But instead we get heart onesies like we are toddlers.

I think the core reason people dislike San Vansterdam as a map is because they're just tired of it

You get used to all the spots and all the locations, and in your brain, you attribute your boredom to the map being bad

But again, that's entirely subjective
What makes a map good is dependent on what the player considers to be important in a map

I don't particularly like San Vansterdam in its current state, but I wouldn't say it's outrageously bad :P

that's not something that can be said of any of the previous Skate maps, or any skateboarding game's map frankly

We've seen that they can do cool things with this (eelside, the rooftop spots, the spiral at the ORB, yada yada)

i love this game, i really do. i wouldn't be here talking about it if i didn't. but pretending everything is fine and shutting down criticism isn’t going to help it in the long run. i see a lot of people defending skate blindly, and i get it. we all want it to succeed. but blind defense doesn't lead to change. it just reinforces the direction it's already going.

if we actually care about it, we should be able to say what's not working without being labeled. that's how things improve.

Yeah I think that the most problematic part of this game is the lack of communication, in season 2 they just released the pass, some changes at the beginning like that little graphical shift and thats is, a few small updates with bug fixing and nothing else, just different thematic skate-parks that are the same thing as the other ones but with snow or fire or something like that

Honestly - my main thing with Season 2?

Is objectively, it came at the wrong time. Conceptually it's a great update and vibe.

But releasing a "now with friends" mode, where so many people struggled to find players for OTL because the only valid option is "invite randoms and pray" was just a bad oversight on FC's part.

This season, arriving at a later date when we had better match making and ways to easily party up would have gone down so much better.

And - then there was the party bugs it introduced (I'm not a fan of randomly getting pulled into other peoples challenges...)

Communication is always key. But it's been vague. I think some people also have gotten some skewed expectations with the weekly grind due to this. They thought it would be a weekly dev update and got it into their mind it would be. I think we need some clarity on when to expect "actual" dev updates

Darkslides aren't my personal thing but it IS a fan favorite trick that is pretty steezy
Footplants are my jam, I love the trick, great to see they're getting improved
Leaderboards will allow us to compare stats and paves the groundwork to comp
Custom park editor is a huge addition, functionally infinite spots and parks
Tattoos are a great cosmetic addition

But let's be real, this sounds like a solid list of additions

OTL is kinda neat but I think it's cooler as a map feature_s_ than a rotating seasonal missions. I also think it needs to scale to the number of players. Solo should be reasonably doable. Maybe not just changes to the time, but maybe a solo play is a smaller area

only part i disagree with is reducing the surplus. the surplus is designed for people to enjoy the game but not forced to grind out daily or every other day.

i think its fair to let harder trying players to earn more. but sometimes people have more hours to play over the weekend than a couple hours during the week. the game doesnt really let you grinds out tasks in one session, it forces u to wait til the next day or week to earn more.

but this goes back to the expectation of if tickets are rolling over or not. and that they used a none traditional system of them rolling over from the first season, which was the expectation moving out of season 2 and so on. if they set this standard from the beginning and communicated it clearly it would have been fine.
