I was curious about the team size. I've been worried that EA will sunset the game but if it's a small team, they can afford to keep it running longer and it kinda explains the slow speed of updates.

Yeah when I eyeballed it, it seemed that it was 190 connections so people who have moved through the studio. I don't think it's 190 full time staff.
Also with the game being in dev for so long, I wouldn't be surprised if half the people listed as animators for example are not currently working on Skate and got shuffled to other EA projects.

I think you're right. If anything, they are probably downsizing the staff after launch and putting it into a more service mode

other EA games seem to get up to 6mths post release of full development effort.. patches/bug-fixes, maybe some new features and content.. sure the studio scales back as well but its at least an active project in that window... after that 6mth point is when maintenance mode kicks in.. all of that i guess depends on the success/budget post-release

Yeah it's definitely a sliding scale based on revenue. I do think this was likely always a low priority for EA in the grand scheme of things. That's why it got announced back in like 2020 and hasnt made huge strides in over a year

Cynically, I think the honest truth is that EA already sees this as "full release" because they are implementing full monetization tactics.

And like Tyler implied*, the base game is pretty solid at this point. They only need a few gameplay programmers and animators to drip feed new stuff every couple seasons and they can outsource art assets to other EA studios to always crank out visually distinct stuff

Yeah, its def the gamepad not the games
deadzone will help but id also heavily consider investing in a new pad. Hall Effect joysticks are much less prone to "drift" like this, and there are plenty of controllers using them on the market
