People genuinely do not understand the amount of layers devs have to move through just to get a single bug fix implemented in a upcoming patch let alone new content. Its actually insane the amount of bureaucratic layers there are in every level of game development that slow the process to a crawl

Before constantly pushing paid skins, they should make sure the core of the game is solid, and only then add cosmetics. But if the game’s foundation is just doing challenges, and the map is by far the worst compared to the last three games…

I will say there are a handful of bugs or rather more accurately - inconsistencies that make the simplest things a chore - and when those things happen to also be key components - it can severely impacts one’s time spent in those particular sessions - or their view of the game entirely. Case and point - nods to Bleach’s issue

Very rarely - do I get in a lobby full of friends and not have something go wrong - (invisible party, group/lobby is full, someone’s game wigs out, challenges aren’t counting, etc)

At its core - the game does exactly what it’s supposed to do - deliver a solid feeling Skateboarding experience well - skating - but so far it stuggles to consistently - deliver a pleasant experience for the rest of the package and online experience that comes with it

Player base is about the same drop off as most games on steam for 4 months from launch apart from some exceptional titles.

This argument is just not true. It’s people seeing the numbers and being shocked. And then sharing the numbers. Without looking at other games and what normally happens.

Most titles on steam eventually hit about 10% player base from launch. Skate is still having more people play it at month 4 than other games it’s competing with (thps, session etc).

It’s trending slightly lower than average for drop off. But it’s not ridiculous.

Totally agree. I think a lot of time went into the development of the skating itself, the chore mechanics. And the rest is...not finished and/or polished.

That's why I see it more as a toy then a game. a fidget toy even. It's nice to zone out and play mindlessly, but it's not a game. Like a box of lego compared to buying a board game.

The skateboarding side of the game is the best I think it’s felt, at least for me personally.

Beyond that - we just gotta believe:
Bugs will get fixed.
Maps will get bigger.
Quality of life improvements get added.

If in like six months time we still have crashes. Random party pulls. Some of the more urgent or severe bugs we’ve got now…
Then more of the hardcore base will start getting frustrated and leave.

As long as it keeps having progress - things will move and steadily get better.

But new bugs will get added, and those eventually will get patched. It’s the life of early access and live service.

Eventually - you run out of excuses too all the same. It’s a delicate balance all around. Pros and cons to their methods and having available, as an early access title.

For me personally - I’m fully dedicated to the game and cause so long as the devs keep true to their word and engagement - if it’s clearly broken and the official answer is “wdym you can skate can’t you?” Then I’d have concerns about its longevity after that.

But we have Jeff and even tho he’s one guy - name me one other community manager as engaging as he is.

For me I just need more game modes. That's it basically. I can list dozens of bugs and improvements I like to see, but at the end of the day they don't ruin it for me. Sure it sucks when I have to reboot the game two times in a couple of hours playing, but when I get bored with it, that's a bigger problem.

Like genuinely, as a more hardcore player too, for me - what would eventually push me away is just losing interest in the areas to skate and at the same time people I talk to and hang with also checking out.

That’ll only really happen if the map doesn’t expand fast enough, or mechanics are added that add more frustrations. (Genuinely this seasons focus on partying up without any meaningful mechanics to do so, whilst also breaking the game with random party pulls - being a huge one for me). Because that bug can ruin sessions.

As long as we don’t get stuff like that, and we have a decent pace of new places to skate before things feel too old… I’m good.

So it’s pretty likely, Season content for 4,5,6 hasn’t been confirmed yet. And they’re probably gonna look at performance, budget, expectations etc and the commit.

Objectively… I think the reason we had the shop, is because of budgets for the game. It probably didn’t get greenlit as a major title to invest. And EA said to FC if we do live service we can fund as we go along.

This kinda also explains the season 4/5/6 roadmap coming out around the new fiscal year.

The whole thing is “we weren’t sure if this was gonna be successful because skating and skate games is a niche audience”

I would rather be apart of the experience and see the game grow into what it can still yet become - knowing we’ll look back and laugh the struggles and “remember when this sucked” convos each step of the way, kinda like looking back on our own lives going back 10 years and being like “god i was cringe af LOL”

Or - the game folds in on itself and no longer gets support and the servers shuts down eventually because it just didn’t work out etc.

Either way - the experiences - and friends I’ve made along the way I would rather have than just “coulda woulda shoulda” because I was too stubborn and refused to play in its current state.

That part - is a choice, and I don’t knock anyone who feels that way. But it all ties into their risk of how they took on releasing a game in early access (aka not complete yet)

Been loving the game but the pace for content release has been staggering.
Im ok with waiting for big seasonal changes but im not sure if the developers anticipated how quickly the playerbase would complete challenges/content.
Theres so many players with 10/10/10 levels and an over abundance of rip chips.

I understand the tutorial island is on a different server and it’s not easy to just teleport there. Get that. I also understand they are likely adding challenges or something to the tutorial island before we go back there. Once again, I get it.

But I hard agree with the pace of content. It would be unjustified if they released a full game and people complained every day that we didn’t get new DLC every month. But people are getting antsy, apathetic, and turned off permanently because the game has continued to be boring. Letting us go back to the isle of grom asap would solve so many issues while we wait for more substantial upgrades.

There are two major universal complaints with this game: lack of content and the flat and boring map. Going back to tutorial island helps with one of them for now because it provides a literal change of scenery.c provides hills, a mega ramp, snake run, realistic skateparks, etc. Basically everything that’s missing from the current map.

go down the mini-mega and hold a spin when you launch, you'll get a 540. land it, then launch again on the next ramp and get another 540 (or 360), come to the quarter pipe and do a 360.

City Challenges are the rotating ones that may change location OR difficulty (Amateur, Semi-Pro, Pro)
