What platform and what type of controller? If PC, temporarily remove all other input devices (mouse, keyboard, etc) and close any related software. Re-launch the game and see if the problem persists. Not being able to perform tricks, or being locked into something like a roll, is commonly caused by something other than the controller sending inputs to the game.

i think part of the problem is the rushed development pace of a lot of other modern games. game developers across the board are getting burnt out by the rush they're in and expectations of players. rehumanize the devs a bit, capitalism tends to devalue labor

the keyframe issue when you place two too close together and the camera goes all squirmy.. what is that, why does it happen and when is it patched

so, i sometimes place keyframes within 0.05 of each other. making sure the next frame isn't some ridiculous difference in POV, focus, or location can prevent it.

the easy way I've found to avoid this, if it happens, is delete the keyframes after the last stable one, then slowly reapply.

see, the next frame is going off the previous one. so when you're placing keyframes, you want do make sure you do them sequentially, not throwing a new frame in the middle randomly.

(i've noticed most of the weirdness when I have, for example, 5 keyframes set in a 10 sec clip but want to add a new one but change the perspective drastically between the preceeding and following keyframe. makes the camera do the electric boogaloo)

oh and to further on that question, even when you DO delete the keyframes where that issue occurs, it just transfers the issue to the previous keyframes, untill you have to delete every key and redo the whole process

it's not like I'm changing perspectives like crazy, I film realistic lines, so for me having keys even within a SECOND of eachother the issue occurs..? let's say the clip is a line that's like 10 seconds long, I'm limited to like 7-8 keyframes max.. if there's more I get that issue and have to rekey my whole clip

My suggestion in #skate-ideas was to let people choose whether to join tourneys as players or audience, and only the audience would judge. You could take that further and require people to judge entirely random games so the ability to know who you'll be judging would be reduced.

That would open things up for esports easily too if there was better ways to spectate a group.

I kinda get it. Like an Ace Attorney Online system for the realistic players who want an SLS format or whatever. The devs could just build a basic SLS template, like a park with assigned roles and personalized scoring system. They could also keep the legacy game modes for the unrealistic players. Honestly, I hope there’s more in the future for people who have realistic settings on.

I’ve seen some people complaining about finding it hard to get people into throwdowns currently - and like the main reason I don’t jump in a bunch of them is I have no idea what I’m expecting.

I’m height 1, lowest pop height, 0 or 5 grind assist, lowest bail height… trick catch off… etc etc.

I almost have to remember to play the game entirely differently to stand a chance of winning 😅

I play low GA and didn't feel GA gave me any issues on Nosebleed. I play 20 because I don't want the vert drop-in assist to pull me away from the coping of verts when grinding is obviously the line I'm on. And I don't like needing to adjust it so I picked a setting that hasn't yet stopped me from anything I try to do (I can drop in, grind coping, hippy flip, hippy flip off a rail onto another, etc on 20 GA.)

Tbh what’s so frustrating about the challenge is that the entire thing takes like 2 minutes.

And you do almost no inputs for those 2 minutes. Because the game doesn’t make you balance like THPS for example.

Nosebleed isn’t even a complicated line.

You don’t get that rewarding feeling of progression.

Like if you have a cool line you want to do, or some challenge a friend has sent you… I don’t mind spending 30-40 minutes getting it perfect.

I’ve spent an hour or more easily at the same spot before to perfect a clip I wanna share. I don’t mind if it’s rewarding because I “feel” like I’m getting better. Or coming up with new things.

That’s what’s cool about skating at its core tbh.

For me personally, Nosebleed gave me the feeling of progression in my favorite way: it taught me to play better. Last time I played Nosebleed, I ran it 6 times before my party finished. I've learned the rhythm for high speed grind dismounts onto a curved surface soooo much better than I knew it before Nosebleed. It was satisfyingly educational and the view was good. Also I rarely did no-ollie rail transfers before Nosebleed, but now my skater eyes are more open and my skatey senses tingle when I notice adjacent rails.

in that folder are just a couple config files (graphics settings) and a backup.. its the reason you need to remove them because the patch will recreate them properly

You’re all good. All that’s in there are files related to your settings in skate.

So when you load up you’re gonna have to set some stuff up again like resolution, graphic settings. Maybe some camera options if you’ve tweaked them.

It’s nothing crazy.

Basically the issue was some data in those files can get corrupted because of a bug. So deleted them resets everything.

if you're really scared, don't rename them but move them somewhere else entirely. But also if you delete them, you always have your trash.

Can confirm also. Just did this because I forgot to and it works. Had to open and fullscreen a chrome tab for the game to launch though. Would only launch in the background.

I’ve had some weeeird performance issues with chrome and skate. If I alt tab out of skate chrome runs like crap.

Skate has performance anxiety I guess? Idk. I've had to do this almost all the time since the game has come out though. The PC Skate experience is a quirky one for sure.

It's not neccessarily a challenge. You just open a chrome tab after you launch the game and pretend the game doesn't exist. More of a burden than anything.

Thankfully this was fixed about a month ago, but for the longest time if there were new graphics drivers I couldn't update them until there was some sort of update for the game or else the game just would not launch unless I rolled back my drivers.

Annoyingly I think the latest nvidia drivers screw up sticker placement. At least I’ve seen that mentioned here lately

That would explain why everytime I look at a sticker in the board customizer it's invisible. Thankfully I don't much care about stickers since you can't sticker bomb your deck.

Honestly being able to place as many stickers i want, where they are, the size, and the wear and tear of my board and stickers is much needed. I want a system where I can set it individually or after having the same board setup it gets natural wear and tear. That'll hopefully come in later seasons tho

That's why I like the Santa Cruz decks because there's visible wear and tear (Scrapes, scratches, etc.) It's not a lot or anything, but it's pretty noticeable imo compared to other decks.

Board wear would be amazing tbh. Little things that add realism. And a way to just like “clean” the board off if you want it to look fresh again.

Even stuff like saving board setups and clothes to like a wardrobe or whatever. I see these things mentioned a lot. Hopefully we get them. 🙏🏻
