They are making a few passes. I think 0.29 is the first character pass they are doing for faces. They are also doing a few world ones. Benefit of live service is they can change things after a few months if its ill-recieved. Or not, we will see.

I do not know where else to ask but I'm having an issue with skate. where after pressing the A button to log in, the game changes resolution and crashes before it can get past the loading screen. I have no clue what could've changed to cause this and don't know what to do.

I'm on a GTX 3050 and was on a 1650 until about a month or two ago playing the game, neither had this issue prior to tonight. I also have the most recent driver update, that was the first thing I tried.

For the record I also tried reinstalling, reinstalling the anticheat and running as admin but I guess I haven't tried restoring file integrity that's fair.

I’ve been playing skate since 2008 skate 2 is in my top 10 games of all time. To see ea release this which I’m not surprised. But to see the devs ban or time anyone speaking ill of this game saddens me. Skate 3 wasn’t the best but it did have skate culture. This game has none of that which the devs said would have.

this game was literally made from the ground up, which i dont think people realize. things in previous games won't be in here because it's not as simple as porting it or moving those systems over. this game was legit made from nothing. things from older games will be added along with new stuff like the parkour, impossibles and slappys, etc. as much as it sucks, that takes time.

far as i know, it could be your specs, or visual settings problem for settings, turn off v-sync
cap your frame rate in properties, change your refresh rate, switching your global illumination to static
and or switch your graphics from high to something else and back to high(vice versa on whatever you're playing)
i've seen playing on low sticks you to 30fps..idk if that's still the case now

I see your max turbo on the CPU is 4.6 ghz. That's approaching a speed that could theoretically get too hot under some environmental conditions. You may try to tune down the CPU max speed in BIOS if you can (I think you can with K series). You may also want to turn your fans up. Beyond that, await optimization from the devs. It sounds like you have at least what they recommend, so if you do all of the above and still can't get over 45 FPS under any combination of game settings despite a 3060, 16GB, a 13400 K, and no thermal throttling, I'd assume the devs have missed the target recommended settings with the latest optimizations and try to send your specs on the forums for them to review.

Lesson: Play in full screen if you're on the edge of the game requirements.

I've seen a lot of people switch and seen people say both Steam and EA are better than each other.

My theory is that they're encountering a couple bugs in rapid succession that don't usually occur so frequently, switching in frustration, and then discovering (lo and behold) the intermittent issues stopped, and concluding the app they switched to using is better.

But my suspicion is that in reality the game is just unstable.

oh just curious.. borderless mode forces you to use the desktop resolution which can impact performance if you're close to the limits.. fullscreen you can choose to drop resolution lower (eg. 1440p desktop -> 1080P game) to get better performance if needed

While i do hope they add new parts to the island at some point, i do think you should consider this: the ability to teleport and crazy stuff like the spread eagle might make the map seem small, but if you slow down a bit and treat the game like real skating and find a cool spot, and chill and try specific line or trick... there are hundreds of spots to be found. i come from the era of Tony Hawk and Thrasher Skate and Destroy. literally a single skatepark in this has so much potential for fun

I believe the fourth area of the map will be unlocking in season 2 or 3. We’re getting party voice chat in season 2 and more tours in s3 in March. And that’s how it is for Fortnite and GTA-type games where you have the same map every time

ok we just fundamentally different on how we play. the unrealistic super crazy jumps is my least favorite part of the game. i like to channel my inner Daewon Song...or andy anderson for the new cats. there are so many cool little spots and creative ideas to play with. ive been saving clips and pan to make a 90s style skate videos but with skate clips. (and this is fine btw. i get the fun in flying around, and i can see how if you are one of those dozens of people flying down those megaramps over and over you have limited places to do that... but im that guy trying to powerslide up a wall and late flip off into a noseblunt on some weird obstacle over to the side lol)

i mean.. that we can probably agree on. i would be willing to give up the skyscraper stuff entirely if it meant they had spent a year on the physics to where i could be doing rodney mullen style casper slides and weird primop tricks and underflips and grab grinds... and truck tuning and wheel hardness... different sized boards with the added benefit that you could use weird boards like longboards... its 2025 they have the chance to make the skating sim to end all skating sims... but at the same time, its not a BAD thing we can climb

imagine if there was that level of detail on boards, and Hero1n skateboards could do a promo as a future event. doing weird stuff on their mutate or egg boards (just look up Hero1n skateboards). and as far as longboards... im not "into it" but it wouldnt be hard to add, and imagine if you did see people riding around bombing hills on longboards every once in a while. would add character. the point is, all of this stuff is pretty "easy" to add if you spent a ton of time on the physics rather than this other stuff

i really love where its going btw, and im sure they get tired of hearing a variation of the complaints. i do see they are adding plant variations and dark slides at some point. my overall point was the skyscraper and crazy stuff isnt bad, and probably brings in more players that arent necessarity skaters, but i just hope they show the physics engine and real skating some love

They added the climbing and flying mechanics due to the popularity of the mega gaps and mega launch clips

And it comes with the addition of parkour mechanics as well for parkour clips (I've seen a fair few of them)

I just wish they would scrap the parkour parks and leave them as their own separate challenges
Because as people have said, this is a skateboarding game, not a spiderman game

The blue rail at rolling waves is where I did mine. Getting a 4x before trying to grind also makes it a lot easier.

i play microsoft flight simulator sometimes and mainly fly small cessnas and taildraggers... maybe an airbus every once in a while...
but they do have gliders and weird stuff for that novel, realistic fun to experiment with.
Although i dont care much about it, having longboards simply exist, makes more sense than flying around like spiderman, for a skate sim. ill leave it at that sorry

switching stance back and forth is really up to you/space dependent. my personal favorite way to go from switch to regular is an inward heel, turning the opposite direction to it looks like a heelflip body varial but oftentimes i'll just revert

to grind at the top of a quarterpipe just hold down right before you get to the top. also the only time in the game the grind inputs from skatepedia are useful

I think the fact that the game is so accessible is awesome, but the challenges have no room to adjust themselves to the player
So the game designers naturally leaned on the easier side so everyone could progress

I would love to be able to play harder variants of challenges like in Skate 3 with killed challenges

Because there's no satisfaction in completing piss easy challenges
Make me think, make me work towards completing it
The game's hardest challenges do this well, but most aren't like that
Double Trouble, Muy Manual, Single Bridge Gap, etc.
