i’ve played it a lot . i have my own critiques . its just an overwhelming amount of negativity for a functioning game in early access in its own discord server. naturally we’re here because we are hyped up and want to engage with people about the game in a positive way . not saying you can’t or shouldn’t complain and it’s even a part of growth . it’s just when it’s 85% of what you see is a complete mood killer it starts to become grating . and no not all the criticisms are valid either. nobody’s 100% right and tbh the players shouldn’t really be taking the burden fighting amongst eachother on either side , they should be fighting for a common goal . right now the criticisms are just getting out of control and we can’t even get a objective understanding of what would fix the game immediately for every player since everybody is just in their mj era of cooking up bs to complain about

Dishonored for me! I would kill for a movie/show adaptation. One of the art teams that worked on Dishonored 2 animated some episodes of Love Death and Robots and they look great and you can tell its that sort of oil painting look. And yeah, I might’ve rushed when I wrote what I said earlier, but what I really meant is that the missions in the game started to get boring for me. Honestly, what I wrote was more about my own feeling toward the game, not what others think about it.

You’re right, but honestly, I was hoping Skate would give better rewards for the missions. For real, that’s probably the biggest downside of the game. Everything else is pretty solid, but even though I bought the battle pass, I still wanted more unique rewards. I want something that really shows the difference between players who grind every day and players who only hop in on weekends.
Yeah, maybe I’m asking for a lot, but in the end, this kind of idea would make more people play the game and take the missions more seriously 😂

Game we have so far is like a layup new game modes really have to slam dunk. A really scrutinised layup 😂. Early access means unfinished but they’re making rarity a thing here with the store thats all, and greedy too lol. The full version will have more places and activities. I personally would rather have early access to something that I can watch the vision of and take part in shaping the future of.
I prefer this to having to wait for a full release.
I like seeing how a game progresses through development and being able to actively influence decisions made via the surveys and questionnaires and interacting with the community directly.
GTA VI, I’ll have no control over and will only be able to enjoy the game (or not) as the team making it envisioned.
Whereas here, I can give feedback (constructively) and get the thoughts of the team in the decisions they’re making.
It’s the exact reason #skate-ideas exists.

I think @warped sleet has the right idea with having an overall negative view of the game. Playing it, deciding they didn’t like it, stopping playing it, and then creating a hypothesis as to when they think it’ll be enjoyable for them to plug back in.

That’s just my thoughts though.

As to your question regarding the ramps. It would be based off of what you’re trying to do. If you’re going for a gap, I would use the biggest non-quarterpipe ramp you have. Otherwise for me personally, I use the huge quarter pipe, the one that’s like three people tall. lol

I tried this yesterday with putting a launching ramp at the edge of one of the freeways and then putting another ramp on the ground to land on, but I kept wiping out and switching between the ramp options to figure out what would work

Not yet, I haven’t even gotten on yet. Yeah it’s easy to find a larger ramp to launch off, but it’s more difficult to decide on a ramp to land on because you have to factor in the wipeout factor and the angle that the ramp is at with maybe putting a rail under it or something. But you also aren’t likely to land in the same place twice in a row if you do slightly different actions, so you also have to figure out the best area to put it.

Don't worry---you won't miss out if you can't complete the Season 1 pass before Season 2 drops in December. As long as you obtain a seasonal Premium skate pass before that season ends, you can continue working on Season 1 through Season 2, Season 2 through Season 3, etc.

the vibe that i get is that the team is too small to handle a game this complex at a rate the fans want them to handle it at. they're getting complaints left and right about cosmetics, the map, the challenges, the connectivity issues, the crash issues, etc etc and if they only have 2-5 people per department it's gonna take a while to fix anything. all this on top of working across multiple different platforms. i have heard that the reason proper updates take so long for consoles is that manufacturers (especially Xbox) want to vet the updates and approve them as well.

tldr; dev team may just straight up not be big enough to deal with a game of this scope. they should hire more people

If you want progression and don't want to navigate bugs that make you restart the game, I can't honestly recommend the mission system yet. It leaves a lot to be desired and I have seen no official estimations about how long it will take to fix things. Maybe try back in Season 2?

Yeah it feels like EA is the creative director and they forced the devs hand into making something for the kids. It just bums me out because the feel of skating is amazing, it’s just the art and lack of personality in the game that kills it for me. I would have much rather had a $70 game that is complete.

What doesn’t make sense to me at all is we would have 100% waited a couple more years for a fully finished game. The community is so committed we commented on literally every ea post for years like we wouldn’t have left if the final product took longer

I want a career, I want the immersion of grinding a skater from the bottom to the top through sponsorships, I want to see other pros, EA has plenty enough money to contract all the current street league guys, Nike guys etc.

We were given a multiplayer version of skate with a Fortnite monetization model but that doesn’t work in a game that literally doesn’t even have multiplayer features lol

I said this so many times and nobody really said anything, co op isnt competitive. In the road map the season 3 just says gamemode instead of co op gamemode so. Although it also says season 3 and beyond so all of that stuff wont even come in season 3 I guess.

Honestly, I don't have many qualms with this game that are that serious other than minor nitpicks or stylistic choices that aren't going to change (and idrc anyways)

but really, the biggest issue is that lack of modes
multiplayer modes, competitive modes, etc.
there's got to be more, and the new co-op mode is what's going to get that ball rolling

I'd guess the new co-op game mode is something we haven't seen before, because I've heard from people internally that there wasn't really anything "co-op" present in the playtests, it was really just solo play
so we're going into it blind

If I had to guess, I'd bet these tricks will be added eventually:

• Body Varials (Relatively niche trick but still stylish and can be implemented by working with the Hippy Jump mechanic)
• No Comply Variants (There's plenty of ways to do a no comply)
• Caspers and Primos (Dark tricks play into Caspers and Primos could be implemented with trick toggles)
• Grind Grabs (existed in previous games, just needs the mocap data for it)
• Fingerflips (Just perform a standard flip trick while grabbing your board, easy to implement)
• Underflips or Antiflips (Perform the flip motion in the opposite direction to "undo the flip rotations")
• Pressure Flips (Players have been begging for these for over a decade. Pressure flips aren't mechanically complicated: the board rotates from an off-balance pop, which the physics system is literally designed to model)

I think the game could use with some depth - currently theres no easter eggs, no secrets, no impactful lore (yet), no hidden systems; just skate and do daily rotating challenges

theres already a good framework for a decent story/lore and Easter eggs with the m-corp thing

I've played EA's NHL games for the past two decades plus. The player character graphics are a lot better over there and they've been using the frostbite engine since 22' so we should be good.

Fair point. At least FS and BS notation would be nice as the only tricks that have it are shuvs/big spins, ground grabs, 180° ollie, handplant and I think the fastplant as well.

I don't mess with Dailies much since they repeat too often

I'm sure it'll get alleviated with the new challenges coming to the daily pool with S2
