not necessarilly, i've experienced slow motion gameplay when my voltage for the cpu was too low, try setting the preset to medium, rise up the lighting, shadow and mesh quality to ultra, and turn off depth and blur, if you have nvidia there's a way of activating dlaa search for pooka on youtube, also don't use dynamic lighting it's not that big of a difference the game still looks great, use a filter to saturate the image and lower the brightness ingame

Hardflips and lasers aint beginner. Its just not much variety due to it being just strictly street skating. It comes even harder when u turn on catch mode. I thought the game felt good for the most part but it does have its jank moments.

There's a buffer that comes to em. I find using Xbox elite controller to be useful when playing session cuz i can adjust the thresholds of the triggers. It takes getting used to but it helps out with being more snappy.

Playing session for its vibe is a big reason to play it over skate imo. From graphics to maps is all around better and thats a double A game. Sfx is also better in making the tricks more satisfying.

The manual catch skill curve in session is really satisfying, it’s almost like learning skating again - once it clicks it clicks

yeah but the competition in my opinion has a much higher quality of the items that rotate, while for skate we're waiting up to a week for reskins of items that you can get for free from loot boxes (and a lot of the free items look better than the store items).
Like the denim chore dress for $5 (Reskin of free item)
The giraffe print horn rims for $2.50 (Reskin of free item)
Beanie/hats for $3-5 (Reskin of free item)
The same reskin of the Varisty jacket for Founders Edition, Chocolate and Thrasher for $9

A lot of the items are just really low effort reskins of stuff that is already in the game and for free, so having a 1, 2 and 7 day wait for a store rotation is annoying.

There have been a handful of really nice store items though, so credit where credit is due for that

MultiVersus launch cosmetics were mid at best and there weren't nearly as many.

My comment is context dependent, but I also enjoy the trick catalog. I know it's not feature complete, but literally none of the games I just listed had the mechanical depth that this game has at launch, either. Placing walls in a grid pattern, sprinting, aiming, shooting, driving, sliding down a hill, 2-D fighting collisions -- all of these things are far more simple to do well than what skate does with skateboards (as well as our bodies while we're freerunning).

to be fair they had to remake the entire flick-it system in Frostbite, so it's probably not as simple as you'd think to have all the tricks that are in Skate 3, plus they are fully aware that not everything is in the game, and they will be adding in the stuff that's missing over time, as well as Impossibles, which are new to the franchise.

oh yeah I was shooting like late 2000's early 2010's, I mean we could shoot back even further with things but in game cosmetics were really really gigantic when it came to browser games, Just look at Habbo hotel for example. That's actually a good example of getting free stuff for playing free. A lot of the games before the mid to late 2000's either were browser games that weren't multiplayer and didn't really focus on cosmetics, or were web-browser type games or MMO's that have cosmetics as a big deal to collect, usually? I never tried Destiny 2 because Destiny was pretty boring and disappointing to me, and I always found all of its cosmetics too clean and military to be appealing. Obviously personal taste is a factor; I'm just saying, I like my starting avatar in skate waaaaaaaay more than I liked any avatar I ever unlocked in dozen of hours of Destiny.

I wouldn't play a game that played that way, and I'm not sold on many of the cosmetics in that game generally, though I'll be honest, having never wanted to try it, I wouldn't know which clothes it had at launch vs which is added later. That said, if you hide from Steam reviewers, you eliminate me from your potential customers. I think comparing pixel-art offerings to 3D cosmetics is unfair, but I can respect your preference for what MapleStory has. Again, I would not prefer to look like MapleStory pixel art than I look in skate. Literally nothing MapleStory has ever made is as appealing to me as what is already in skate.

Warframe had a decent launch, but not necessarily better than skate. They didn't have color palette options until a year after they went public, so it was just a handful of frames and their customizations. Again, the frames are a bit more military than I want to look in any game, so they never appealed to me as much as they appeal to some players, but I do respect the customization they offered us, and their customization game today is quite good, and Ash was a good launch skin.

with any of the other games id sit and find spots that looked like it couldnt be done then keep finding angles till i could do it. could take like 20 to an hour getting it right but with this game tuned down all the way to no assists. im banging out spots no matter what in like 5-10 min

I would say the cosmetics seem mostly low effort, but in my experience they often feel that way in most new games. However, I have appreciated the wide variety of fun emotes in this game, which I would consider a form of cosmetic, and this game's launch emotes are some of the most enjoyable launch emotes I've seen since Rumbleverse. Running around or skating around doing silly emotes greatly improves a game's vibe to me, and I have seen several emotes I want to have on wheel in just the first couple weeks. Talking to my own hand while I attempt deadly tricks is peak emote comedy to me.

The waiting system from the sounds of it is soon to be more of the past or atleast not as drastically long as it currently is. They've said like they wanna test how things work with stuff being more like 4 hours at max or tune it down from there. But since it's finally enabled cross-save the player market is a lot easier to get into and genuinely is just a normal gameplay loop for just skipping timers pretty easily now.

Digital Extremes has been making crazy money lately like enough where you could say they operate on like a AAA level with the amount of employees they have and the size of their tenno-con events or collaborations (like having Victor Borba help produce a soundtrack for one of their recent updates). This game should add an improved variation on RDR2 (specifically online) walking styles (the thing tons of players don't even realize Rockstar added to that game lol). Perhaps implemented in the way Dragon's Dogma 2 did it.

For those who haven't played both or were oblivious to RDO walk styles, RDO has a menu where you pick how your online character walks, from Rugged to Flamboyant to Crazy. I think there are 8 or 10 of them.

Dragon's Dogma 2 lets you use sliders to adjust your walking / running posture to make it completely unique to your character.

Combining these features would add a lot of flavor to our characters.

this, and how still-quite-abrasive the early game is. theyre adding a modding quest and making some currently main quests into side ones, like the trap(s) of cetus on earth and orb vallis on venus to aid in the pacing of the game, and to make things a bit more cohesive for later story bits (establishing Teshin, and by extension the corpus presence)

If I had to justify this in a few bullets:

1. Extremely bad survival-craft mechanics like 12-hour wait times to pressure premium spending that only a small niche of gamers will peacefully accept.

2. Poor PvP options due to a complete lack of balance between frames — PvP options so poor that many active players don't even realize they still exist.

3. Extremely fast-paced mechanics that immediately exclude a rather large portion of the gaming market. (Not a bad thing to me, but realistically affects a game's population.)

4. Boring civilization environments without enough activity or encouragement to socialize (e.g. good emotes, minigames, anything) and spend time "just chilling" in the game. The gameplay loop is so exclusively high-energy grinding that people who are not looking for a fast-paced repeating grind don't have much reason to log into the game at all.

And, yeah, all of these impressions could be outdated, but that's how it felt maybe 3, 4, 5, 6 years ago? Idr when I even played tbh. Probably longer than I realize. Time flies when you're disintegrating.

The Audio skate team was cracked. SO good.

1 is we talked about is something that yeah they're working to slowly phase out now that it's no longer a needed source of revenue to keep the game online.
2. They've just pretty much accepted it's not a PVP game and put full focus to the PvE side of the game. Closest thing now other than the old gamemode being a graveyard is a more gambit styled mode in the newer update.
3 Cross-Save is probably the biggest save they've done for how much the game revovles around player economy, a lot of the platform specific inflation has evened out to the point where like monopolizers just complain now.
4. You'd really like the past few and future updates cus they've done a lot more interesting social spaces and gamemodes to change up gameplay loop aswell as like accessibility to resources so you don't have to get them in only 1 game mode.

Yeah. I know of at least one game in my steam library that just will not work and that I gave up on because the dll file which would apparently fix it wasn't available online anymore. Funnily enough, it was another EA game I think lol
I'm lucky in terms of my personal PC, because I pulled it out of the local rubbish dump lol, all I've done is install a new SSD into it. It was an old workstation from 2013 or so, so it's fairly beefy for what it is, but I know the video card is the bottleneck and there's no way I'm going to be able to afford a new one with today's GPU prices lol. Yeah all these prices for parts are insane. It’s why it’s so justify-able to get a Console now. Plus this whole FPS debate needs to stop. Anything above 144 is obsolete and also, when you play a Series X or Playstation 5, ur getting smooth, constant 120 so it’s honestly better than having 144 with drops.

Same thing happened to me with the steam library. Had a v nice gaming laptop with some super beefy specs, new stuff too. I got hogwarts legacy (dumbass forgot to check minimum requirements) and tried to play and holy disappointment. So many frame drops it’s not even funny

Go to the skatepark in market mile, head the to blue halfpipe section with the loop, go to the ramp that leads in and set a session marker, go from there because it gives you speed to get your multiplier up, when your multiplier hits x4, do a body flip trick to a manual, you'll already be on around 1400 points, then while in manual stay on flat ground between the halfpipe, do a few kickflips till you hit the score, then repeat. I did it yesterday in about 15 mins

That's a bug that happens when you skip the intro audio too quickly, you have to wait like 3 seconds
