It's a weird issue. And if other people are having issues and no one has a solution. Then I doubt I could figure it out. I've never seen it. I would.. restart my console.. restart the game.. try again. If it's messing up.. turn on trick analyzer and see what the right stick is doing.

i havent been this excited for a game in YEARS,

game dev lesson (basically industry wide)

studio decides to make a game.
they build up framework, and test internally (devs, QA, etc.)
they continue building on it, playtesting internally for weeks, months, (sometimes years)
they get to a point where the studio needs external input - various PC configurations, styles of play, etc.
so they get a stable enough build and go through certification.
certification has various requirements that must be met before it's released publicly (and by publicly, I mean NDA'd playtesting)

when a game starts console testing, they have to go through additional approvals from 3rd party (Sony, Microsoft, etc. - console manufacturers).

each patch must go through certification and approval from 3rd party before it's deployed, which can take some time and there is costs.
so, most games in pre-alpha run programs like EA Playtesting (through their PC launcher) as they can push updates faster (yes, they still must go through certification).

and yes, there is a difference between the internal builds and external builds. internal builds are generally not compiled, require a special in-house launcher (or if console a dev-kit console, which you can't buy), lots of stuff.
once the internal build hits a gateway of "this is as much as we can do with internal feedback, we need to get external feedback", they then start the process of locking any changes in that build branch so they can compile, get it certified by QA/QV teams, and then go to 3rd party for deployment approval (who do their own cert tests).
if all goes well, they push that build to external testers.

yes, internal builds (within the whole of the industry, not specific to skate. ) are generally months ahead of the external build.

beyond this - I can't discuss things as I have more NDAs under my name than hair on my head (I'm bald, so it's a bald joke)

now, when a game gets something like a public Beta, it's usually a multiplayer game and it's 90% of the time a stress test on the server.
no one likes servers falling over at launch, so the network engineers need a lot of data to see how many people connect, etc. to prepare for launch.
however, this doesn't mean development is done. oh no!
yes, the dreaded "live service" moment - games continue to have things added, improved, etc.

as someone who started playing video games in 1982 at the age of 4, I LOVE live service games. as someone who had multiple cartridges fail on his NES, SNES, and even his N64 because patching bugs, fixing issues wasn't possible, yes, live service is great.

if you're invited, and you invite your friends, chances are pretty strong their going to get invited.

why? well, because a game like skate. wants you to play with friends. to have a social connection in San Vansterdam (and that's stuff we test).
