To me plot is not the most important to but the characters, there are characters I like like Penny and Merula. The biggest issue with balanced mode was removing rank restrictions. It allowed novice players playing things like harry echo with loco, opaleye, squid, FF, other 7pm cards to be partnered with normal global lvl players. I think that's were the issue came into play.

Sure the cards were maxed but the decks don't work.

Balanced mode with rank restrictions still in place might work better.

Also I don't think CH complains about house cup much since they all been playing since 2022 or something they basically all have maxed cards

So maybe they complained about it being Balanced and not wanting to play with novices.
