Likes: rolling in her sand bath, digging in her coco soil, sprays (specifically sudan grass), whimzees, transporting toilet roll across her enclosure & ripping it up, sitting in my hand

Dislikes: keeping toilet roll in it’s original location, getting off my hand, being too small to reach the top of sprays

I rescued Myling today (11/01/25) from the adoption section in PAH. She was returned to the shop after her previous owner co-housed her and they fought. She has been in a tiny glass tank since October and I’m so glad she’s finally in her forever home with me 🩵

She has been settling in well! She had a little exploration around her Pawhut and experienced sand for the first time, then went to bed in her MCH.

I’m so excited to watch her from afar for a few weeks and see her personality flourish while she finally experiences the life every hamster should! I will properly start the taming process in about a fortnight, hopefully her feisty nature is only towards other hamsters rather than humans too, but it’s okay if not Update! She absolutely adores sitting on my hand with or without food, now that she’s settled she’s very chill considering she’s a robo. She gets up multiple times throughout the day to have a drink, attack her sprays & nibble her whimzee

shes so chill

when shes scared she freezes whereas ghost bolts away

(i walked into my room and the slight noise of the door scared her)

maybe shes a ghost hamster👀

well she kind of is technically regardless

i wish i had a camera for myling’s enclosure because i would have LOVED to have seen her carrying all the toilet paper over one by one

i have a sneaking suspicion that myling is used to being handled

i was peeking into her enclosure over the blanket ive got on it and she was looking up curiously at me and listening to the noises inquisitively

i was planning to wait at least 2 weeks to do any sort of treat offering but

i just had a feeling

i got one of my cardboard oat flower water seed mix concoctions and held it to her and she came right up and ate some then sniffed my hand without a care in the world

did i ever say her nickname is miss raccoon bc she reminds me of one

i went to PAH today in hopes to speak to some staff who knew myling to update them on her and both people there did! one of them was the person who did all the paperwork for us so we showed him pics

we were also told she had a rash a while ago so she was handled a lot having it treated which means my theory of her being used to that is correct!

i feel so lucky that i can see my girl whenever i like without disturbing her

ive put a blanket over that area so its dark and warmer (im in the uk its CHILLY) but i can gently lift it up and she doesnt peep

she went back to her mch to sleep in yesterday but shes back in the burrow again🥹

myling FINALLY cleared her food dish (shes been leaving specific things other times, i think shes prob became a picky eater before i adopted her) APART from the dandelion root which has been there for like a week. safe to say she definitely does not like it

thats why i love having a really big wheel for my robos! it stops fast enough to prevent them falling

myling is such a little angel🥹 she gets up on her own between half 2 and half 3 (pm) every day to come eat food off my hand or just sit on it shes always a little unsure at first but thats completely understandable and im sure after a few more weeks she’ll be immediately running over like ghost

i definitely think she’ll be actually holdable to an extent and might even enjoy free roam

i knew it! its only been a few days but she already runs to my hand as soon as she sees it and does a little hop to get on🥹

every day she gets less and less nervy which makes sense considering shes more and more settled

i’m definitely going to try free roam in a few months

i’d say her fav things are her wheel, sprays, sitting on my hand & ofc toilet paper

helping her reach her sprays in a less precarious way..

i cant believe shes already more comfortable than ghost with sitting on my hand after only a month

she definitely will still leap off and bolt to the other end of the enclosure if any tiny thing startles her but like, ghost doesnt even want to sit on my hand in the first place unless theres food but even then she tries to lean across and keep her back legs on the ground
