Fandom: Original work

Word count: N/A

Length of request: at least a couple of months, as I'd like to get at least 40% of the script finished beforje June.

Summary: I'm trying to make a game about my characters. It's going to be a choice-based game. Think Episode or Alter Ego... Something along those lines.
(TW: dark topics ||some themes include suicide, eating disorders, mild horror, etc.||)

Reply to the post or hmu in DMs if you're interested please:)

I'd be potentially interested in this. Do you have any artwork/wireframes set up yet or are you just looking to get the plot in place?

winter mural
#

Maybe if you need help with plot

#

I like coming up with creative options

Forgot to mention in the original post, but I'm planning on possibly making a book/comic of the story as well. So for that I'd need a "true ending".

amber flower
#

It's okay if you don't btw, just wanting to get an idea

lofty root
#

Yes- I have a backstory for my main character, plus a general idea for a couple of endings.

#

Plus a possible part 2 of the game, from the perspective of another character

#

The main ending will probably be called "true ending", and the 2nd game will be based on the aftermath of the true ending

#

I have a couple of scripts on Google docs, if you'd like I can send the script for the first "chapter"

#

Although the script is from when I was still planning on having just a book, plus the beginning stages of building my characters

#

Sorry if I'm sending too many messages lmao

amber flower
#

Yeah sure I'd be happy to take a look at the google doc

#

Is this your first script for a game?

lofty root
#

I'm about to head to bed right now, so I'll send the doc in the morning.

amber flower
#

Same here. No worries, I'll read it tomorrow

lofty root
#

Alright

#

Gnight !

Based on the looks of it, it’s a school setting right?

lofty root
#

winter mural
#

Ok

amber flower
#

I may not be able to look at this until tomorrow now as something I needed to do has run later than expected. Will try to feed back ASAP!

winter mural
#

Same but I have personal stuff…

#

Will mostly check at mornings or nights

lofty root
#

No problem lol, I have religious obligations over the weekend so I'm not able to use electronics on Fridays and saturdays

Have yall had the time to read the outline yet ?

lofty root

winter mural
#

?

lofty root
#

Oh I was just reacting to the reference

Lol

Okay, so I see some good stuff in here but atm I feel it's a little disjointed, probably because it's just your thoughts about where you'd like thing to go/progress

#

There are a fair few conflicts happening all at once and I think it might be best to hone in on just a couple. Perhaps Alexis and EH's parents could already be dead in the beginning (e.g. made reference to rather than be a whole scene as that's how I read it). That means we open with Alexis and EH already in the orphanage. I think some authority figure from the orphanage should be Groc's character just because of logic/realistic aspects.

#

I then think only one instance of pedophilia should come into it rather than a few and this can be done really cleverly without being too in your face, if you know what I mean. Possibly another caregiver so Alexis feels like her trust is broken, which leads her to her third conflict, EH and the coma. I think the truck/driver should be linked to the pedo reveal to tie this in rather than a random event to make it more realistic/drama-worthy

#

What would really help moving forward are character sheets. Who people are, their connections to others (perhaps a flow chart/family and friend tree for this?), and how they operate in the story/their development. Then I can see some detail and get some ideas about how to place these characters into the setting

#

Are you looking for story settings or just dialogue or both?

#

@lofty root

lofty root
#

Yeah, so I meant for the first "section" to the backstory/ not mentioned so much in the game

#

I have two kind of backstories to choose from- I'm probably gonna go with the car crash one

#

I think I have some characters sheets done, but not for the side characters. And they're probably on the wrong email acc.

#

I'm looking for both, I'm pretty sure

#

Thanks for the feedback I really appreciate it:)

Mhm

amber flower
#

Are you wanting the script for the comic/book first or the game first?

lofty root
#

Comic

#

The book was the original idea, but I feel like it would be kinda weird to have both?

#

Idk what do you think?

amber flower
#

It depends on what you want to achieve really. You could have the book then the game for the visual aspect but then it may be easier to create the game after a comic

#

If you think there's enough of a plot and character arc to write a book then maybe explore that idea. On the other hand, if this is your first attempt at writing something long-form then a comic is probably the best way to go

lofty root
#

Hmm

#

See- the reason I'm planning on making it a game is because I can't decide on just one story line. Maybe after all the paths are made, I could choose one main one and make a comic out of it

amber flower
#

Yeah that's probably best, then you're not wasting time. Plus trying to create a choice-based game is so complex. All the plot arcs need to line up with each other at certain intervals
