I've heard the mini goes forever, and I've never had a vital bracelet mon die.

Of the devices you have roles for, raising one monster on DM20 is my pick. You can put it to bed early, make it take naps if you're busy, and the heart loss rate isn't too hard to keep up with, but it's still overall active enough to be engaging.
