Anyone else have this happen? It doesn't do it consistently. Took the device apart to inspect the board and nothing was immediately apparent.

they look a bit dirty i suppose, but it's not like the connections are super close to each other to accidentally reset it as far as i can see

I have definitely seen this happen before, I'll see if I can find out who it was

@covert crest and @crude hornet might have insight

No clue, sorry 😦

I have a Twin that randomly resets, but no idea either.

ive had a twin randomly reset on me once before as well but i never figured out why

@covert crest has leveled up! (45 ➜ 46)

I'm going to remove the conductive pad for the reset button and see if its the pcb pressing into it. Thats the only thing I can think of. I'll report back after a bit of testing

Thinking about it more, could also be power circuit issues or clock instability

#

DMOGs reset if you touch the wires on the RTC crystal with even a fairly high-resistance thing

#

Took me a few tries to measure the frequency

@terse harbor I wonder if desoldering and resoldering the crystal will help?

terse harbor
#

Or even a new crystal

sly silo
#

True. Is there a good way to tell what kind it is?

terse harbor
#

Or if there are any caps in the crystal circuit

sly silo
#

I'd have to chase it with a continuity tester when I get home

terse harbor
#

It's very likely a basic 32kHz clock crystal

#

On some v-pets you can also change growth speed by putting a different one

#

It's a common strategy to have one of those crystals for RTC and use the internal oscillator for the CPU clock at a couple MHz. For keeping accurate time while minimizing power consumption.

My twin LR does this a lot when its low on battery. If I switched to a new and more quality battery it works again normally.

#

Dunno if it helps though for yours just sharing what I did with mine.

sly silo
#

I give that a try. Thanks @leaden moon ! Big fan of your art, btw.

@leaden moon Seems like the battery was the problem. Thanks again!
