#Legion 5i Gen 10 Low consumption

Describe the issue: The Legion consumes very little power while gaming; it's as if it were only using battery power or in silent mode. The power consumption doesn't exceed what's shown in the screenshot, even when plugged in and in performance mode. Because of this power consumption, my gaming performance is terrible. I'm running Arc Raiders at 55-60 FPS on low settings in full HD on an RTX 5060, which makes no sense.

What have you tried already?:
I've already tried reinstalling Lenovo Vantage, unplugging and plugging it back in, and changing the power adapter.

When did it start producing the issue:
I did a clean install of Windows on it, I just bought it and I already noticed this problem in the first game.

Did you install new drivers or software?:
I installed all the Lenovo drivers, used Lenovo Vantage and the Toolkit to check if anything was missing. I also did a manual BIOS update.

Can you provide images/videos to show us the issue:

#

you are also running bad Nvidia driver, use the DDU guide, do DDU, install Lenovo Nvidia VGA and 581.94

I'll try the other suggestions, thank you.

@craggy hatch So, I tried everything, even reinstalling Windows and downloading everything again, but it's still limiting the power. Weird, right?

#

When I open a game, it starts with a good rate, but it doesn't take long before it starts limiting itself.

#

I think I'll send this laptop in for warranty repair.

pretty sure I have the same thing happening

It's practically the same notebook, but with Intel, haha.

gpu is capped at 50 watts draw for some reason

#

I'm using arch so I thought it was a linux thing

#

So, I thought it was something related to Vantage, but I did everything and nothing changed.

The power consumption in performance mode here is exactly the same as if I were on battery power.

#

I'm going to try reverting to a few BIOS versions, but I'm already starting to notice that it might be a chronic Legion issue.

I've installed nvidia powered service and it seems to have raised the requested power limit from 50 watts up to the actual 115 max power limit it said in the documentation

Oh, it's for Linux, I use Windows 🥹

good news it draws 18 watts out of a max 115 rather than 18 out of a max 50

so I run a gpu benchmark

its at 97% usage and its drawing 22/115 and fans aren't whirring like what?

I have another Legion, a slim 7i with an i9 13900H and an RTX 4070; it's simply much more powerful than the Legion 5i.

#

This Legion power supply, consuming a total of 60W, is simply impossible to use.

turns out it was just my charger haha

#

got it from america so different port then I had an adapter which was limiting it
