Lenovo Legion 9i Gen 10 5090/I9 275HX CPU power throttling

Just received my new laptop, stated above, and when I run cinebench it is clear from HW info that it is being power throttled. My Cinebench score usually ends up north of 1600 (2024 version). It barely reaches thermal throttling as the temps are not going above 95/100.

I have updated my Windows and Nvidia drivers and not sure if I might be missing some software. I have seen on reddit people mention disabling RC6 in the bios but this is a little above my paygrade.

Can provide screenshots as necessary but not sure what people want - not a tech wizard so bear with me!

make sure your machine is updated for both BIOS and Management Engine

#

and start tweaking with Throttlestop

where would you locate the BIOS/management engine updates?

warm dagger
#

ME only if applicable (Lenovo posted), else just BIOS

lean tulip
#

OK will check BIOS now. Thanks.

#

No BIOS updates required (up to date) - says Lenovo

warm dagger
#

you know which BIOS version you are on?

#

please dont tell me you used automatic checker

"not a tech wizard so bear with me!"

#

You suggest using the manual checker?

warm dagger
#

you dont need to be a tech wizard to read

lean tulip
#

Okay I am in the manual drivers section now, one second.

#

Its not entirely clear which one I have installed but it suggests the version "RZCN40WW"

warm dagger
#

you can check in Vantage, LLT, msinfo, dxdiag

#

hwinfo also shows this option

#

like, many many options

lean tulip
#

"RZCN32WW" in vantage

#

bios version

warm dagger
#

update

#

and as you can see

#

reading is important

#

automatic checker doesnt work for shit

lean tulip
#

shall do friendo, and im on PTO, i purposefully stopped reading or thinking approximately two days ago

#

:D

#

Okay updated. Should I run cinebench again

warm dagger
#

performance mode, single run

lean tulip
#

Okay I scored a little higher. So I did a single run of multicore and ended up closer to 1700 than 1600 (900 pts gain)

#

I see some results online saying they're getting closer to 2k for the same CPU

#

Unsure if indicates a problem or not

warm dagger
#

now do Throttlestop beta and just add negative offset of -40 to the Core

lean tulip
#

Hmmm and the warranty? Sounds void-like

warm dagger
#

huh?

#

they literally let you play with CPU Undervolt option (set it to Enabled/Disabled)

#

what warranty if its in user space

lean tulip
#

It does mention in LegionSpace that the custom settings may void warranty incase of damages etc.
