Soft EC reset:
Shutdown the laptop, unplug all cables, charger too.
Press and hold power button for 60 seconds, keep holding even if the laptops powers on, release after 60 seconds and then power o...
if a hard EC reset won't work (article above) then take the laptop to a shop or buy a new motherboard on ebay
Yes, did try the 60 sec. button press. Went to a shop and was told it wasn't worth repairing this brand. So, how involved is it to change the motherboard?
fairly involved, but doable if you have the tools.
get the hardware maintenance manual from https://pcsupport.lenovo.com
you'll also need paste and likely new thermal pads/putty. repaste guide is here, thermal pads/putty uh i don't know someone else will know more

STOCK THERMAL INTERFACE APPLICATION (For devices without STOCK LM)
PTM 7950 is the closest TIM you can get that has similar properties to what Lenovo uses out of the box. (PTM 7958). Stock ...
Looked at a video, and it seems to even include soldering (which I have never done before).
fyi i personally replaced my old laptop motherboard when it died a few years ago, it went well
wat, there should be no soldering in a motherboard replacement
Or I might be confusing things - I looked at so much stuff trying to figure out what to do.
I guess the GPU is soldered on to the motherboard, which makes is quite expensive here. Almost 3000 Dkk. At the shop they wanted more than 4000 Dkk to replace it. And people are selling similar used computers for 5000. New computers with a similar 6 GB VRAM Nvidia card is starting from 6000-7000 dkk. So, it's a lot of money for something which may fail. Been thinking about buying a bamboo computer and just replace the HDD from the Lenovo computer to get access to my old files and my old setup, of course, I wouldn't be able to run any of the Cuda heavy stuff. Is there something I should be aware of before I presume this path?
why are you thinking of replacing the GPU, if the whole board won't power on the problem is likely something other than the GPU
wait i completely misread this sorry
