#99°c on Games Using Performance Mode, is it normal?

I could really use some info on this, so my laptop is Lenovo Legion 5i Pro Gen 9 (16IRX9) with i9-14900hx and RTX 4070, 32gb of Ram.

While playing games like Apex legends/PUBG/Cyberpunk 2077, on 240hz QHD resolution, I've noticed my temps hitting 99°c on CPU and 60-65°c on GPU in performance mode (using flydigi BS2 pro cooler) is this normal behavior for the processor?

I haven't undervolted, if I do the temps drop down to 80-90°c on the CPU but that do impact the performance as expected. The CPU utilization is around 25-30% yet the temps are so high it worries me a lot.

I bought the laptop second hand I think it had an year of office use before I got it.

Any advice will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Around 55-65 watts

if it's 99C average then let us know, someone else would have to confirm if 99C average at 65W is ok for your model

99 degree C long term is not good 😔. And also your power push is only 55 65 W, wattage to temps seem really high ngl 😕. I hope somebody else helps you as well as I don't have much idea 😔. Take words like peanuts daveyes

This guide explains how to make a file containing data from laptop sensors overtime using HWiNFO64 so that you or other people can review it.

we still don't know if it's max or average yet

download hwinfo to check current, max temps both

#

what are you checking on?

wary flicker
#

Maximum yes.

#

Average around 80-90, occassionaly bumps up to 99, this is only in performance mode not on balance, in balanced is way less, around 70-80\

then its alright 🧐

Fans take time to adjust to the cpu temps, that why spike to 99 maybe

Yeah, that makes sense.

Okay so i've done some more testing, using cyberpunk benchmark and throttlestop, cpu pulls around 80-90 watts on performance mode with throttlestop undervolted and now it doesnt go above 95c

around 2 fps hit on performance mode

#

71fps on average with raytracing and dlss on performance
