Model: Legion Pro 5 16IRX9
Describe the issue: High performance and Power saver power plans have disappeared. I had it on Balanced before and games ran very well but now on the same setting (with the other 2 gone) games now run extremely slow and choppy, where the day before they ran fine. Fans also not turning on where previously they where going pretty strong, when the performance was good.
What have you tried already?: Rolling back Windows updates, updating everything again, in Windows and Vantage, updating GPU.
When did it start producing the issue: 28/04
Did you install new drivers or software?: Yes
Can you provide images/videos to show us the issue: If required

Do an ec reset
Soft EC reset:
Shutdown the laptop, unplug all cables, charger too.
Press and hold power button for 60 seconds, keep holding even if the laptops powers on, release after 60 seconds and then power o...

Not sure why plans disappeared. But you should be using power modes instead anyway on win11
You can access them via win+x then pression O as a shortcut
Best performance is equivalent to high performance power plan and best power efficiency to power saver
Yeah, they're missing everywhere including here
You only have balanced in power mode menu?
Let's try checking installation just in case
#questions message
thankyou for that! the scans didn't find anything unusual and the problem persists. Is there anything else I can do or is a factory reset the only way?
I would leave it as a last resort. Let's try resetting power schemes
Type in command promt
Powercfg /RestoreDefaultSchemes
And reboot
this just deleted my custom one and there is only Balanced now :/
Did the power modes appear?
just Balanced only
That's odd
Try importing 2023 power plans?

can you think of any reason it was fine gaming on Balanced before but now struggles?
Not really. Balanced can cause stutters in some cpu demanding games since it's trying to balance cpu power
btw, for the hell of it, try ec reset

Since ec controls power delivery, it might be the cause of performance issue
I suppose that's the main problem because Sunday it had no problems on balanced and then Monday it did
Oh wait, you already did
Check in winver what windows version are you running
it's actually not as bad as it was, so the troubleshooting has done something but not how it was performing Sunday
Not sure if oblibion ever performed good. Does this happen in other games? Are you in performance mode (power button glows red)?
haha no I don't think it did, it is just a marked difference to before I noted the power modes being gone
btw is display set to 60hz or more?
Check both displays if there are two of them
yes, 240hz. just the one
Download 3dmark demo (it's free) from steam and download timespy benchmark inside of it
Run it and post the results here
3dmark has a good database of results to compare against
my speed is very slow tonight so I might try the 2023 power plan again while I wait
I have the power plans back and it is running on performance!! you are a wizard 🙂
