Model: Legion 9i, 13980HX, 4090

Describe the issue:
Laptop GPU is always 86C and thermal throttling. I have the back side slightly raised from the table and depending on the game, it's able to use 115-160w. But it's always 86C after a few minutes of gaming. PS. I don't mean indie games like Rimworld, but baldurs gate 3, fallout 76, cities skylines 2, cyberpunk - anything newer.

Is this normal for Legion 9i? Should I get Lenovo to repaste it?

What have you tried already?:
Raising the back side of the laptop.

When did it start producing the issue:
It has always been like this.

Did you install new drivers or software?:
Latest nvidia drivers.

Your GPU should be able to run lower than 86C

So most likely a bad thermal paste job? Any recommendations on which paste to get?

Clean your fans and vents. If that’s not enough, repaste. Next time, just ask questions in #questions

I personally wouldn’t have lenovo do it. They are more likely to do a poor job instead of a good job. You should get comfortable doing it yourself or going to a trusted repair shop.
