Model: Legion Pro 5 16IRX9

Describe the issue: Microphone not working (exclusively those managed by Realtek Audio drivers)

What have you tried already?:

  • Rebooting
  • Reinstalling the drivers
  • Tweaking all possible settings
  • Trying to find alternate drivers (was refused by Windows with "The best drivers are already installed")
  • Resetting the Windows Audio services

*When did it start producing the issue: *
Yesterday. It started with both the speakers and the microphone not working. After some tweaking, speakers were back on after changing the "Audio Enhancements" option off. No obvious update caused that.

*Did you install new drivers or software?: *
No, not before the problem occurred.

Can you provide images/videos to show us the issue: Not applicable.

Same problem,
Already talked about it, look for previous topics here
No solution but clean reset windows or using a usb cable headset since they use different software

So I spent quite a bit of time today in **pnputil **tracking down what's happening. I think that there is some weird device address mismatch happening as I see drivers being duplicated. I tried resetting higher-level PCI Intel drivers to no avail.

Make sure you're not muting the microphone via the keyboard shortcut

Oh, interesting: I will look further into that then. Thank you

So, I have the registry keys for the drivers controlling the mic and speakers. It would tremendously help to have someone with a Legion Pro 5 (the closer the model, the better) with working microphone to share their registry entry for comparison.

Seems same with me, both speakers and mics not works, backload to safe point helps, but after some hours problem back, I will backload again to safe point and try to turn off windows auto updates then test, problem back or not

So weird and annoying to stay with no audio 😪

By the way I found a nahamic devices, they are all turned off, but I didn’t install them, is it same for you?

Just recently happened to me, seems to be one of these 2 or both to be at fault.

Elevoc Technology Co.,Ltd - AudioProcessingObject - 4.0.5.197
Elevoc Technology Co.,Ltd - Extension - 3.0.2.301

Managed to rollback to before this update and its working fine until windows update prompts to install it again, so better to pause update or hide it

So much audio slop pre-built into these laptops

Nahimic Elevoc etc etc

tried using the registry code in #tweakers pins to disable driver updates, it managed to hide the elevoc APO update, but the elevoc extension update still went through. I noticed that it duplicated another elevoc device in device manager, is it because I had the original one disabled at first? maybe. For clarification, I had nahimic/elevoc app uninstalled, services & devices disabled before the update

In the end letting through that update still bricked the mic, so i system restore again and paused for good

If you can’t open reddit

Windows update > advanced > optional updates

Look for more audio related drivers updates

The working version seems to be Elevoc APO 5.0.5.234, may differ as its a diff laptop from the thread
