Model: Legion 5 15IAH7H (Intel CPU, Nvidia RTX 3060, ~2,5 years old)
Describe the issue: Battery doesn't charge fast enough when playing intense games. It shows as:
- «plugged» in Windows
- «connected, but not charging» in LLT
This behaviour stays the same, until I close the game. Then it begins charging. HOWEVER, sometimes I have to restart the system altogether for this to work.
Additional info: - The charger is the default from-the-box big block with 240W power
- Both LLT and HWMonitor show Discharge Rate at 0 W during intense gaming
- Battery slowly discharges, despite the charger being plugged in (up to 3-4 hours of active gaming)
- During this the laptop doesn't stutter, slow down or give lower fps (fps drops happened only in Thronebreaker, but no often at all)
- After closing the game. Discharge Rate comes back to +30-50 W on Normal Mode and to around +150 W during Rapid Charge.
- During gaming the laptop feels extremely hot as the charger (in comparison to right after service center), despite CPU howering at 78-85 degrees, and GPU at 75-80 degrees
- The temps above were lower when I first used the laptop after serice center.
What have you tried already?: - Several soft resets via power button 60s hold
- Disabling battery in BIOS for servicing
- Unplugging and replugging in everything: the charger, outlet adapter etc.
- Reinstalling drivers, updating Windows
When did it start producing the issue: - Laptop was at service center for keyboard replacement, cleaning and repasting to PTM thingy;
- Battery issue happened the first time around 3 weeks after service center during Witcher Tales: Thronebreaker. The game isn't demanding, but ran at 330 fps which may have impacted this. Capping the fps helped only from time to time;
- Battery issue consistently stays during games like AC: Odyssey, until I turn the game off, then.
Did you install new drivers or software?: No.
Can you provide images/videos to show us the issue: Yes.
