#Brightness Curve in Manage DIsplay mode: Nvidia GPU only is not right
107 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
The cpu is running at 3-4.5GHz at idle in
Power plan: Legion Balance Mode &
windows power mode: Balanced
For some reason
Cpu usage is about 4- 9%
With only 4 active threads and rest are parked
Well this is another problem, i cant check cuz i cant access the power plan settings
Not even default balanced?
Balanced is accessible but im using the custom Legion power plans
Try via QuickCPU
Gimme a sec, Opening the laptop
Ok, wait, i think i can fix the power plan problem
I have done it before
You can try deleting the plans btw and redownload them from Lenovo.
Also, did you touch speedshift epp in throttlestop? It control boost aggressiveness
fresh windows install all stock havent touched anything yet
also didnt bother with throttlestop cuz i have an H processor so cant even undervolt
i ll AC loadline but that is a project for later
it is disabled (auto set by windows)
currently 128
@sonic drift this is a bit high for idle dont u think?
sending a video*
nvm, turns out cuz of the recording the cpu usage was higher
still sending video, srry for the hassle*
but video still shows the high frequency at idle, imma check minimum
it is 5%
the default
With what are you recording though? Just tried Shadowplay. Cpu clocks didn't increase
snipping tool
Just tried. Encoding was on dGPU, so no increase in clock speeds
yeah trying rn
No e core usage. Interesting
yeah been noticing that too, even before fresh windows install cpu was fully relying on P cores
You are on the latest bios and ME firmware, right?
specially in low usage senarios
latest bios ✅
wut is ME
intel Management Engine?
havent checked, i let winfows updates & Legion Toolkit handle things
checking
imma jsut straight up update
install first 3?
Do try
iirc yeah, they require reboot
how do u record, just tried alt + f9 i get this
using the New Nvidia App
u need to Be in DGPU mode or Laptop Display Mode: Nvidia GPU only
noice
Oh
tried to use OBS , tried to optimize, damn higher usage than both
Nvenc AV1 + Weighted Sum scaling
anyways
no difference in cpu usage at idle, still spiking to 4.5GHz at <10% usage
im not hearing fan spikes tho
why am i discovering issues after issues
You are using Lenovos dgpu and igpu drivers right?
yep
visual representation of how i feel the brightness curve is like
in Manage Display mode :Nvidia GPU only
What about dGPU only mode?
imma try wait a sec
back
issue is not there in dGPU mode
but
it feels more like an exponential curve (which is not a big deal)
Let's try yoloing it
Disable MPO
https://gist.github.com/douglasparker/9439aa211c3f163e9390ba84db7f18bf#file-mpo_disable-reg
You are on 24h2 right?
yep
made this curve
this is how it feels in dGPU mode
in optimus mode, it is linear
done
i think i saw something like that in teh driver folder
back to Hybrid mode
nop no difference
Brightness Curve in Manage DIsplay mode: Nvidia GPU only is not right
ec reset?
Soft EC reset:
Shutdown the laptop, unplug all cables, charger too.
Press and hold power button for 60 seconds, keep holding even if the laptops powers on, release after 60 seconds and then power o...
Back
Ok
Soft ec reset done
Nop, no difference
adding to the list of issues:
gpu not turning off in Hybrid - iGPU mode
u know, the ec reset did help with the idle high frequency, seems way lower now, it didnt reach 1.4GHz at idle before
why does fresh installing windows introduces issues
You can try going back to factory image
currently i hae a limited data plan, so i going to public place it download that 32GB "Recovery media" , tho it is 23H2
i have made a bad move that i downloaded 24H2 english International iso so cant use that for inplace upgrade
so for now i'd rather try to fix this version till i do that, which will probably be next week cuz im travelling
this is weird
this only happens with Legion toolkit
when enabling LmController and closing legion toolkit (basically using Vantage)
and set it to iGPU mode, the gpu gets disabled within 2 seconds
so Legion toolkit issue?
same for the other issue where the gpu doesnt get enabled when
in hybrid auto && on battery && the GPU is disabled
the GPU doesnt turn back on with Legion toolkit running in the background, only GPU turns back on when Vantage (LmController) is enabled
