hi. i upgraded my lenovo legion 5 pro ach6h with 64 gb kingston ddr4 sodimm 3200 mhz and I placed also new extra ssd kingston renegade pcie nvme m.2 1TB ssd . Everything seems to be fine. But after i turn on for example halo infinite, my gpu (rtx 3070) usage is suspiciously high. Do you think it’s normal usage or it is too high? I post images before replacement and after replacement.
My drivers are actual. My temps are high because i still wait for my new ptm 7950 to be delivered. Thanks for response.

Usage? No, CPUs and GPUs try to run as fast as possible intil they hit a limit
You should expect GPU to be used at 99% in most game
well yea but it is rtx 3070. i expected it to be used less when i do not run maxed graphics. thats why i am asking. so you say it is normal?
i have that laptop for 2 years but previously i didn't pay attention on that
Not exactly
Reducing quality settings does make it easier to make frames
But that just means that gpu will push more of them
Unless the process is fast enough that CPUs side is now a bottleneck in the process
In this case you will see gpu utilisation drop as it has to wait for CPU
In this case you won't
okay. thats new thing i learned. but the bottleneck you speak about shouldn't be big because that cpu and gpu should be optimised from factory to work together i guess
The bottleneck depends on the game
Something like Space Marine 2 is very CPU heavy
So it's common for people to see GPU utilisation drop in that game
Like even the PS5 can drop to 40 fps there at 1080p because gpu just has to wait for the cpu to do it's part first
ah okay. i can imagine. but for example lets say that halo has a lot of graphics to render, but i don't know how much that game put load on cpu. but apparently also more because sometimes my temps go up to 100 degrees
but i need to change my paste because i recently put there noctua instead of ptm 7950
it could be thermal throttling too
It is thermal throttling
yea
but changing paste is my last chance to put things to way it should be, i hope it will solve my problems with heat
but why noctua still didn't reduce temps at least a bit down?
when its used in desktop pcs
i mean the heat transfer principle should work similar, right?
when its also heat transfer medium
and laptop is still thermal throttling
Pastes work significantly worst on laptops compare to desktops
you don't have a heatspreader on a laptop for example
You are also more seceptable to thermal paste pump-out because of the smaller area
and how is it possible that on desktop pc it won't pump out?
It will, but since you have a larger area due to a heatspreader, it matters less
While on a laptop you are applytingn paste directly on the die
So, any spot not completely covered by paste is screwed
by die you mean what? i placed thermal paste directly on cpu and gpu on motherboard
as i saw on video
die as in chip
ah, so we mean the same
