issue:Ethernet internet speed is really slow compared to my wifi. I constantly get over 250 mbps on wifi, but on my LAN connection, I get like 5-10 mbps. I have to restart my laptop or replug my connection like 2-3 times to make it work properly. It sometimes just works fine but then sometimes just doesn't. Idk why the LAN connection works fine on my Acer Nitro and my internet is stable on other devices, and even just connecting this laptop over wifi, but on LAN this keeps happening.
i even installed new drivers for wifi and realtek pcle family controller but this issue keeps happening it's just annoying.

do u have vantage installed?
i uninstalled it for toolkit
did u also disable it in llt settings?
llt?
um
this?
yes, can u maybe install vantage again and check for “wifi boost” or sum like that? not sure if its that since wireless works good
i disabled it and security too before uninstalling vantage
tested if that was causing my issue
since i saw alot of fourms saying it may have caused slow wifi
i thought my issue was wifi too but then i found out it was just my lan connection
how old is the ethernet cable?
i think its like 3-4 years old?
hmm then no clue. i dont know how ethernet exactly works but this is my theory: the connector and/or wifi card on the predator is old so it works with an older ethernet cable. however, legion is new so doesnt work quite well with old cable
it's a cat6 cable it works fine on acer nitro i tested
it sometimes works fine like currently but then sometimes just doesnt??
i got this laptop like 10days ago and this problem is annoying me so bad
mostly happened when it went to sleep so i disabled power saving and green thing in drivers advance
but it just sometimes happens when i boot in or restart my laptop too idk why the wifi seems fine but the lan is just not working properly
bad connection? make sure cable and port are clean.. no clue otherwise
can you go ahead and install the driver linked in https://discord.com/channels/761178912230473768/1251609402960515072?
i tried with a dongle but it only supports 100mbps and its fine with it but when i connect directly to laptop i get that issue
download new driver > uninstall old one in device manager > install new one
uninstall and install new driver for this right?
yes

sorry i've never uninstalled driver before is it the "uninstall device" option?
after you have downloaded the driver
yea i just installed this
okay
this?
attempt to remove bla bla
alr
and then install this
and pray it works
just did it now i gotta pray
i'm losing my sanity over this

was like ah um are u sure?
wifi works but lan doesnt every fourms i see i complaining about wifi but mine is opposite
still not fixed?
it works fine but i have to see later
because it just works fine then just doesnt anymore
okay
lets hope this fixed it
btw - i wouldnt uninstall other drivers like display this way
like sometimes i restart my laptop it just kills itself
or when i open it
yea..i figured
only drivers you can uninstall this way are bt and network
like i have no idea why it just works sometimes but sometimes it doesnt like sometimes i open my laptop and my internet feels slow af and have to replug my ethernet 2-3 times to make it fast again
okie
feels slow? have you done actual speedtests?
yes its like 4-8 mbps
then i have to physically remove and replug to make it go 200+
or restart/shutdown laptop again
go back to device manager > intel card > rightclick properties > power managment
untick allow the computer bla bla
i test wifi and it just works fine but not my frikin lan
yea idid that
even unticked power saving and green blah blah
since some people said maybe thats why laptop going to sleep was causing this
because everytime it went to sleep my lan connection just died
but now even restarting or sometimes just opening it caused it
yes did that thank you
thank you for the help i hope this fixed it if not
imma kms
um for what?
this
weird
i even reinstalled my lan drivers from realtek and it still having that issue
check your ethernet properties. is it negotiating to only 10mbps mode?
since wifi is working fine
that would be a sign of a bad cable or connection
yeah but whats weird is, on his acer nitro its all fine
you could force the ethernet to negotiate higher in device manager, ethernet, but that's a dirty hack and might not work
its working fine currently
like it's giving me 250 mbps but sometimes just doesnt
is it still working fine after the driver install?
well check the ethernet properties next time
mostly when i restart my laptop
sleep/or just sometimes when i turn it on
yes
play around with sleep and restarting, see if it stays that way
how do i check it?
mightve been a bad driver you installed or something wasnt right
uh i forget i'm currently afk. somewhere in windows network settings
this?
yep this
wifi drivers are fine, ethernet drivers could have issues if they were installed from somewhere other than lenovo.com or windows update
thats why i was so confused because i legit dont know why the heck its doing this
it was just doing this so i reinstalled it from realtek
wat, realtek's website doesn't offer drivers iirc
lenevo didnt show me the newdrivers or even windows or i'm just too dumb tbh
or yeah that link
download and run it
also do the device manager uninstall + remove drivers checkbox before running it
i had him install the intel wifi driver

Key Issues Fixed and Changes on package...
on the ethernet device (probably called Realtek GbE or something)
no was just wifi
lmao
was this from realtek website
lol
looks weird. stick with lenovo's driver.
okay yeah do the same again but then on this with the lenovo website driver

okie
feel so dumb
i was like but but my lan was the issue not wifi will reinstalling wifi help lan too??
but didnt question it

is it this?
yeah
i thought it was this way because when i upgraded from stock card to ax210 i downloaded that driver and bt and that was it
figured wifi and ethernet was in the same driver
so do i do the same and uninstall my lan driver and install that?
yeah
Um it said installed complete but didnt actually install the drivers do i have to restart?
reopen dev manager
uh then restart
sum went wrong maybe
And the ethernet is slow
Wifi works fine
Was the cable cat5/5e/6?
1168.10.720.2022
I haven't tried that yet
looks like its a 2022 driver
Since it just works fine sometimes it doesn't idk
Cat6
or its just a coincidence that it says 2022
What is the autonegotiation on ethernet settings said
looks like its installed then
Oh I missed this
um how do i check that again
oh yea
the one i installed from realtek was 2024 version
So perhaps a cable problem
can you give me the link for that?
idk
Just try with other cable and see how it goes
it has no problem with ethernet dongle but that only supports 100mbps
or my old laptop but this one has a problem just dies to 5-10mbps
should i reinstall the 2024 version?
A bit of funny thing
Try disabling Flow Control
try playing with sleep and booting first
see how it goes
died again lmao
same as before slow

well
try different drivers
if all that doesnt work
its new cable time
for some reason
or
I think this is a Flow Control issue lmao
does ur nitro has same card?
Disable Flow Control and Gigabit Lite
Oh
its a old ass laptop idont think so
yea i have to like restart or replug my cable for it to work fine
it keeps happening and i have to physically replug the cable
or retstart device sometimes even shutdown
My hypothesis is in either or both flow control and gigabit lite still xd
this doesnt happen to my wifi but only ethernet
disable those?
yes
can you gimme link for new 2024 driver?
or should i reinstall it from my last source

amazing
also do you have Advanced EEE or Green Ethernet on?
removed and replugged agaiin and its back to 250
yush i disabled em

i installed this 10.72.524.2024 driver and will try to check by disabling those
if that doesn't fix that i think i will try this with new cables
if that fixes this i will shoot myself and if that doesn't
that will not fix it

wait what wont fix it?
shooting urself
thought that but i was like does he mean cables??got scared for a bit
last thing i can think off is switching the predator card with the lenovo card
whats that?
but that shouldn’t matter
oh i mean nitro card
just try a new cable, its primeday on amazon so maybe u can get a good cable for cheap
not that they are expensive anyway
i just hate how i'm like "i think it works now"
and it just works when sleeping or restarting too
then later on i open my laptop again the next day and yep same thing again
im jinxing myself
yea..i hope its the cables but i think imma give this laptop to the store for them to check since i still have my warranty
check cable first
okay
want to say that this is fine as realtek website looks like that
you would take the ones that DONT state "not support power saving
i think it was the cables i tried with diff cambles and dont see any issue
im waiting for my new cables now
