Already posted on reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/LenovoLegion/comments/1cpg14w/cant_enter_the_bios_disks_master_password_legion/), but ...

I found the option in bios to set a Disk password and thought "Well, that sounds reasonable."

Problem is: I 100 percent know the right password. As long the Laptop was only in sleep and not shut down completely there was no problem and I just was able to enter it. Now, after restarting it I see the same window (picture attached), but if I enter it nothing happens. Nothing happens if I press any key as if the keyboard was not registered. Also a USB keyboard didn't work.

I feel kinda fucked right now, because the laptop is 5 days old. Is there a solution or do I have to wait to Monday to talk to the support of Lenovo? Thanks in advance

Do the quick one

If this doesn't work
Shut off the laptop
While powering it on spam the f2 button
You should be able to boot into bios
Somewhere there would be reset bios keys

EC Reset didnt work and spamming f2 brings me back to the same screen, so doesnt seem to make a differnce either... Thanks though either way!

Tried to clear CMOS?

#

Tbh if you don't want to have this hassle just return and get a new laptop since it's just 5 days old

probably gonna do that, but wanted to check if anyone has an idea..

I didn't dare to clear CMOS as I do not want to open the case necessarily. Just so there will be no problems if I have to return it.

Also I would like to avoid returning it as there is already a lot of my personal data on the drive and I would prefer to stay it with me and not trusting vendors to delete it completly

Return it

No. Nothing really works but the power button

basically force install the latest bios and hope the frozen password screen is fixed

(if you have an intel pro 5, consider BIOS 42 instead of 44 so you don't lose undervolting)

Just in case somebody encounters the same problem and is finding this:

I did not solve it. The Lenovo Support was... not very helpful. They first kept telling me that they do not cover it when I forgot my Disk Password and it took ages to make them understand that I just can not enter it. Then they kept asking me to try things I already tried - alone and with them together on the phone. Eventhoug I told them and wrote them long emails of what I tried.

So thankfully the Amazon Service was more useful. Not in solving the problem but in taking the laptop and giving me a refund.

So, learned lesson: I will never set a bios password again. No options to fix it if something goes wrong is way to few options

Thanks again for anybody trying to help!
