Hello! I recently replaced the fans after the previous were failing and other issues aside, the replacements along with new thermal paste have had the system running on Windows 10 Home very cool and very quiet. Recently, sometime after updating to 2H22, the fans have been running at much higher speeds with low internal temperatures, even with no activity and no additional applications open.

This was tested even without applications open and the fans didn't go quiet. The unit was opened again to be sure that no dirt or debris obstructed the vents, and the laptop is currently elevated on a ventilated stand. Furthermore, as of 30 January 2024, no functional updates through Lenovo Vantage--especially for the BIOS that typically controls fan speeds--or Windows Update. I'm having to switch the Thermal Mode to Quiet just to maintain a reasonable level. Balanced eventually has the fans work hard. Showing image or videos wouldn't really be useful in this situation. Could anyone help? Thank you.

Oh yes. I want to add that I also disabled all unnecessary start-up items in attempt to optimise CPU usage, but to no avail.

I keep nightly full-drive backups, so anything I do there should be fine.

Well windows doesn’t have anything to do with your fan curves. If your fans are spinning up, it’s due to heat
