#Lenovo Legion S7 won't start-up, requires Bitlocker Key

Model: Lenovo Legion S7

Describe the issue: My Legion S7 has randomly started to repeatedly give this Setup Confirmation message when turning on my PC, just wondering if anyone has experienced this before or how to prevent this from happening? Whenever I click 'No', it boots into the start-up menu and requires a Bitlocker encryption key to start-up my laptop properly, which is annoying. Clicking 'Yes' just took me to a blank CMD screen so I shut my laptop off to be safe, as I wasn't entirely sure what it would do. If anyone has experienced this before or has any advice it would be hugely appreciated!

What have you tried already?:

When did it start producing the issue: Yesterday

Did you install new drivers or software?: No

Can you provide images/videos to show us the issue:

Unencrypt the laptop, wipe TPM, then do what you want (like re-enable encryption again)

I should be clear.... you should Decrypt your Bitlocker first.

This is why I'm confused though, I don't remember ever setting up a Bitlocker key with my PC, checking my drive it says that it's bitlocker decrypted but I've tried following the options online to disable the bitlocker and the option just isn't showing up for me, going to the disable screen will only give me the 'back up your recovery key' option and I don't see anything to disable it

Luckily the recovery key was tied to my microsoft account so I could still access my computer but I've no idea how to deactivate it or why this is even happening since I don't think I've ever set one up

On some device, bitlocker is forced on via school/business account or device default

# dawn cove Solve this then?

It’s decrypted now so I don’t have to type in my bitlocker key every start-up, but I’m still getting the setup confirmation message every time.

I’ve tried searching for tpm and it’s saying there isn’t one detected on my system, I’m not sure why the confirmation message is even appearing

#

Thankfully I can just press No to the confirmation message now and it will just boot straight away

the TPM not being detected might be related to why you're being prompted for the bitlocker key every boot. normally the TPM holds the key for you

#

check your BIOS, forgot what the TPM setting is called. maybe do an EC reset

Maybe you should follow closely

#

@sacred wyvern you would need to select yes once for that prompt, otherwise you would need to go into bios
