I have the latest 2023 Lenovo Legion 7, with a RTX4080 GPU. When playing a game I can sometimes go for a few hours with no issue, and at other times the game will crash within 5 minutes of being open. Checking my event log I found the following error at the time of the crash, indicating an issue with the Nvidia driver.

*The description for Event ID 0 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
The following information was included with the event:

Error occurred on GPUID: 100*

I have reinstalled the Nvidia driver using DDU in safe mode (driver version 31.0.15.3667) and disabled automatic hardware updates in windows but this error continues to occur, causing games to crash. I also read a troubleshooting guide suggesting that I give full control to the nvlddmkm file in system directory to all users, but this also has not had an effect. I've also ran sfc and dism scans / component repairs.

I don't have any overclocking applied and GPU temps are normal, so Im finding it hard to believe it could be a hardware issue, seems more likely software - but open to any suggestions you might have.

true, i thought i was and then i installed Diablo IV - must have updated as part of that install

I have been suffering nvlddmkm errors since getting my 5i pro. I thought it was just the nvidia drivers and I was constantly updating myself with what is stable and what not.

After exchanging my stock hynix rams with new timetec rams, the nvlddmkm errors just vanished. So for anyone experiencing nvlddmkm errors, you may have to change your stock ram.

I did everything people suggested in reddit, this discord, and elsewhere in the internet to stop nvlddmkm errors. Did the tdrdelay thing, debug mode, tried undervolting, gave full control access, reinstalled with ddu and nvinstaller, basically just about everything software related i could find.

A simple hardware change fixed everything in an instant. So if @tardy minnow also did everything software related and had no luck, then perhaps a hardware solution is needed.

Thanks Katoto - did you purhcase the ram yourself aftermarket, or did Lenovo provide this? I'm still within warranty so figured im probably best to open a support case with them
