#I'm having issues with my second SSD being disconnected after sleep

Hey there!

I just bought a legion pro 16ARX8, 7745hx and 4070. Love the laptop so far, but I'm having an interesting issue with the the second m.2 I installed.

Whenever the laptop goes to sleep, on wake the second drive disappears and there is no way to get it to show up again without restarting the computer.

For now I've simply disabled sleep mode entirely, and will just be shutting the computer down. I've read that this might be because I did not choose a top end drive, and the controllers on the cheaper ones can be mediocre. Has anyone had this issue and actually solved it by just getting a better drive?

Update: It actually ONLY shows up after a restart. Going to sleep OR shutting down cause it to disappear. Thoughts?

try to update the bios, in this case

#

also update the drive firmware if possible.

Bios was updated, and there's no firmware for the drive.

#

I'm reformatting it now and disabling pcie link state stuff in power plan

For the shutdown part, likely it's due to fast startup, you can turn it off and shutdown should be have the same as restart.

ahhhhh

#

you think

#

I'll give it a shot and get back to you ❤️

likely it's the ssd being the problem child here.

Yeah it's a shitty teamgroup, but it works well when it's being detected

#

I'd like to get it working rather than having to bust this thing open again after owning it 1 day lol

#

I'll try the fast start up

#

That's in bios right?

deft falcon
#

it's a windows feature.

That would make sense. Restart is the only option that ensures the drive shows up 100% of the time

#

Does it also affect sleep as well?

#

Because putting it to sleep removes it too

#

In the case that I can't get it working are there any 100% confirmed compatible drives

alrighty

deft falcon

if you want to

unkempt oyster
#

Yeah I'll just get a 970 evo or something

#

I'm okay with not having sleep since I'll be using it as a desktop replacement like 90% of the time and I like to shut it down.

#

But if I've gotta reboot a bunch of times that's too annoying rofl

Try Intel, Samsung, WD black, Hynix, Solidigm, Muskin, or Crucial (just avoid crucial P2/P3 line.)

#

I read of similar issues with wd, but I don't know if it's the same issue I'm having

#

Ahh but now that I think of it

#

that was wd blue

#

not black

#

@deft falcon When I swap the drive I need to disconnect the battery correct?

deft falcon
#

Also do an ec reset with the current drive if you want, it might fix it

unkempt oyster
#

@deft falcon what do I need to do to do an ec reset?

deft falcon

@deft falcon Just wanted you to know that I got a soldigm drive

#

fixed the issue

#

Works perfectly on boot now

unkempt oyster
#

Yeah thanks for the help

#

much appreciated

deft falcon
#
