Hi I bought a Legion Pro 5i 16 laptop with RTX 4070 specifically for gaming, however it's very unstable and nvidia drivers keep crashing on pretty much all the games i tried with random intervals. Errors such as: 'Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.'

Games tried and crashed in so far:
Bus Simulator 2021 (very common every 10-20 minutes of gameplay)
Elder Scrolls Online
Detroit: Become Human
Tropico 4-6
And some others

What OS?
Windows 11 with all latest updates

What Nvidia Drivers have you tested?
535.98, 532.03, 528.xx, Lenovo provided ones

Have you tried downloading drivers from lenovo website?
Yes, I also tried drivers from lenovo website. The issue still persists

Have you updated BIOS?
Yes, I have tried updating bios. Currently installed the BIOS version that has been released on May 23rd.

Did you tweak Vantage?
Yes, I tried various settings.

What else have you tried?
I also tried setting maximum power mode in the nvidia control panel and tweaking other settings that were recommended by posts around the web with similar issues, however none of them helped.

The error with each crash in Event Viewer as per image attached.

Error log:

The description for Event ID 0 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

\Device\Video3
Error occurred on GPUID: 100

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

Additionally I did notice some artifacts on the screen during the very first day of laptop ownership and a couple more times afterwards, but they always cleared out and were very rare.

No overclocking

I remove the drivers completely with DDU and then install the new drivers

I would return. Looks like you have a busted GPU.

Thanks @stoic meadow I'll try that. Lenovo wants me to re-install windows and see if that helps, but I highly doubt that. Will push for a warranty repair

Some more logs after the crash related to nvlddmkm attached

Oh and here's a consistent flickering artifact line in an intro in one of the games

#

When I use intel gpu the artifact isn't there and neither it's there on my other machines

If anyone else sees this post here's a quick update:

Returned the laptop for warranty repair and seems they are going to be replacing some parts which they are awaiting for. Will take around 2-3 weeks to repair. Will update later

Yeah have a spare laptop. It's just a shame as it was a long wait for the delivery and now a long wait for the warranty repair. It's gonna be longer in repair that in my ownership lol

I've noticed it's quite a common issue as more and more people face the same problems as me. Hopefully this repair will sort it out properly

That's everyone for your help
