Hello I have a problem with my laptop which I can't seem to fix i have tried nearly every possible solution found from forms and lenovo websites and other things but it's still there.
The issue basically is hard to explain.
I have a legion 5 2020 240hz I7 10750h rtx 2060 laptop. The laptop is working perfectely in terms of fps when playkng games and the temps are great. The issue has been there since i first bought the laptop.
The problem is that i don't feeling like im using a 240hz screen. My games are not smooth but i have no fps drops or stuttering. The gameplay feels choppy like someone is downgrading my screen to 30-60 hz. Its also worth to mention that this problem occurs also in windows its like there is a very subtle input lag that effects everything from typing, tracking or clicking on stuff which makes playing competive fps games very hard. I could notice this since since comparing to a friends exact same laptop. His feels way much smoother on windows desktop and also in games. Any suggestions or ideas what may the problem be. I am 99% convinced that it is a hardware problem.
Thanks in advance

im no expert but i did get that feeling on my newer 7i gen 8, what i did was Use DDU and uninstalled and did a fresh and clean install of my Nivida drivers, and then afterwards DDU and the same thing with my intel drivers

#

I would suggest #1020285176531669012 to refer to what is the best nivida drivers and for intel i'd recommend the latest drivers and if that doesnt work try the default drivers via lenovo page

#

#1020285176531669012 also has the guide for DDU install steps too

#

dunno if my info might help but it was related to something with optimus , and just to make sure - you have to click "clean install" for all if the installs btw and follow the guide alongside

I have clean installed windows several times and tried different versions of drivers but i never used ddu. I will try this though but i'm not sure will make a difference

i would have you first go to #1020285176531669012 and read upon the DDU guide, and for the drivers its asking within the DDU guide - look at the nivida stable drivers list and choose accordingly, and then make sure during the nivida install - click custom install or whichever makes you have the ability to click "fresh install" inside the nivida installer

#

and if that does not work, move on to the intel drivers and repeat except for intel

@turbid ice ofcourse there is only one option anyways which is 240hz.

Have you done the recommended steps above?

#

It’s worth doing a clean driver install. Do you see any change between hybrid and dGPU mode?

i think the most important part aside from the steps, is making sure during within the installers to specifically make sure you clicked "custom install" or simillar and click "clean install / fresh install" for both within the nivida and intel installers , i remember having to click it to see it within the installers

I have tried reinstalling the nvidia drivers from nvidia and selecting a custom install and reinstalling also intel drivers but i haven't used ddu. I will try that. The problem is in both in hybrid and dgpu mode.

yeah I’m having the same issue on my 7i 4080

I think DDU fixed it. Might just be a mental thing but it seems snappier

should be under display and below clicking the text that says "advanced graphics settings" that opens a new tab ; give it a shot ?

same result with me, although as of current supposedly the newest intel drivers is buggy too ; i needed to put my advanced Optimus mode to "dgpu" instead of hybrid due to multiple monitor audio and fps drops; I'd recommend checking out if turning off "gpu scheduling" could help out; i haven't tested it fully but it gave me my average timespy score 😂

@hidden chasm where’s that setting at?

hidden chasm
#

if not, then ya gotta google to get more specific - could be different and I could be wrong

Oh I’m just learning about this thing called reading before asking a question lol

@hidden chasm @turbid ice unfortunately as I mostly expected ddu didn't fix the issue. I've read multiple forms and things my issue is sometimes also decribed as a floating mouse movement where it feels heavy to move the mouse. Normal people would not notice it but i could obvioulsy do when comapring to my friends exact same laptop and my brothers newer 165hz legion laptop. It affects everything from windows itself as i said and in games too. Also when going to bios you could feel the issue. Everyhting works fine on my laptop but it is hard to play games at all.

but I'm zero percent sure of anything working

#

does this "lag" also happen when you hook your laptop to a external monitor? and the display mode is set to external monitor only?

I've formatted my system and did a clean install nearly 7 times. I've also unistalled display drivers from device manager also tried the windows default drivers and other drivers but still nothing. I've read that someone had a pc with this issue on one form and discovered that it was a capacitor issue on the motherboard but there is no way i'm gonna figure this out 😂. I've also heard about electricity issues tried my laptop in different bouse and in different countries but still no hope.

alrighty, then that might help for other people who come to check on this thread and give you a opinion too

#

i got no other ideas except for a return or a replacement; and then come with your freinds laptop to the shop and show them the problem and the difference between the two ; you could also fallback to lenovo warranty if it is still covered by it - but yeah hear from someone else first tho @static vine
