Panel won’t work. When you compare the specs, the pin pitch is different.
Pin pitch? Fairly new to the panel stuff, several people said they're the same pin options and panel type so it should, I don't know myself hence asking questions. cheers dude.
Yes it’s a 40 pin connector, but the pitch is different so it won’t fit in the connector.
Ahhh I only saw the 5i version, excuse my blindness lol
COuld you explain the pin pitch to me?
It’s in the specs of the links you sent. The pins have a pitch angle. You can google that for more info.
I have looked at the specs and read the summary, I am not seeing anything to do with pin pitch?
There’s a link that says spec detail. Click it. This is the panel you want. Yours is a 0.4
oh damn, my silly self, didn't hit that tab. please excuse me, that's a little embarrassing. Would that 0.1m throw it off that much? Genuine question, not ignorance.
Yes. If it’s not exactly the same it won’t fit.
Just checked with other compatible panels, they're 0.5m too. Well, damn. 100% SRGB is all she wrote lol Thank you for the lesson kind sir.
Hey 100% SRGB is more than enough for basic use and gaming and maybe a bit of basic image editing, if u think u need extra better go off for external monitor
Which would be the better panel do you think. https://panelook.com/NE156QHM-NY4_BOE_15.6_LCM_overview_54054.html or https://www.panelook.com/LP156QHG-SPR1_LG Display_15.6_LCM_parameter_56768.html?

hey chill no need to embaress urself, everyone make mistakes and there are more goofy people
second one slightly more brighter
I agree, it was just one of those things if I was going to upgrade the panel I wanted the best I could squeeze into it. This laptop is a spare and is going to be a project. Overhaul with liquid metal and PP10, the 14w flash and MSI afterburner UV/OC, then getting a 32gb Fury impact kit and using UMAF to OC the RAM and fabric clocks. the final piece is to be the panel. I'm good with this kinda stuff, just never dabbled with the panels.
Another tip- if u want 99% of the performkance of 140w in synthethic benchmarks, consider choosing Alienware 130w 3060 VBIOS...
You need to use Taiphoon burner for AMD DDr4 ram
You will brick if you try to OC Ram. Ryzen 5000 H is locked down.
here is an alternative
But
It will onyl work if ur ram is unprotected
You can use smokeless CPUs form browser, it allows you into more advanced settings, been in contact with a few who have tuned these kits using UMAF
I know but the Memory tab ram timings if u change its insta brick, only to be restored by CMOS reset
UMAF allows the tuning of the RAM, its also reverable by unplugging the CMOS battery, been reading on that part even longer than the panels lol
I am well aware. Thanks. You make any change to Ram in there, it will brick. Yes a cmos will recover.
Yup, I know. I have done it a little before, but didn't do any serious testing. I'll basically see what I can or can't do, if all my options lock me down then I'll have to leave it, but considering I can reset it, even if I can't change the clocks, I can still tighten the timings which should still give a nice boost.
Alright then, beware of anything to happen
You have ryzen 5000?
There's a few forums that went into settings you do not touch at all, the RAM changes seem safe as long as you know how to clear CMOS, which is really easy on Legions thankfully.
Indeed, 5800H, I know it's stubborn to tune but I have been in contact with several who have had success in tuning the RAM on 5000series.
Mind linking that?
as well as telling this?
Like who? Elf and I have directly dealt with smokeless, who made the tool, in this server. You cannot do any Ram OC or timing tightening with 5800h. It’s plain and simple. Feel free to waste your time though. Like elf said before, all you can do for timing is write directly to the SPD with something like Thaiphoon burner.
https://www.reddit.com/r/overclocking/comments/vmi8o0/overclocking_memory_on_ryzen_laptop_and_curve/ There's this one and another somewhere, I was chatting to VIOlinist
thats the 4800H man
Spirited is using a 5980HX I think it is its the Strix G15AE
Please read again
You have a 5800H
5980HX is a HX series and isnt Locked out from doing all these...'
Only way is to use taiphoon burner and have unprotected ram to tightening timings
I did see one that was a Legion 5 5800H somewhere but I can't find it now. Well, If I can't that sucks, but are timings still changeable?
if u do, its a soft brick pleasse read above
Been said a few times now. You’d have to buy Thaiphoon burner and have unprotected ram
Godamn. That really does suck. Thaiphoon burner is pretty awkward to run on a laptop. I had issues before where my motherboard wouldn't actually let it work. I messaged the Guy at thaiphoon and he couldn't help.
😦 Well, I may have been fed misinformation. Thank you though.
Many here have used it, myself included. It works fine.
It’s just a long tedious process
I tried it on my A15 5800H and it wouldn't have none of it, even with the Kingston memory.
My Kingston Value Ram is protected
I used Fury impacts
i see
Those are still protected though?
I can't remember, I don't think so? I forget what the issue itself was I think the TB guy said it was something to do with the TUF and how it was programmed.
Hmmm alright.
What kit did you use that allowed TB?
What kind of clocks and timings did you manage to get?
You can’t OC. I got around cl18-19. The gains weren’t worth the hassle. The best I have seen in this server were from the cl18 gskill xmp kit. Guy got them to cl16
So basically, if you want to OC, you need a HX chipset?
Yes
Guessing the memory controller is locked down on the H models and even the UMAF can't bypass that lock?
Or 4000 series H
Yes it’s all locked down. Smokeless gave up on it.
Seems that way, I have seen nice OC on 4800H and a few on the 5980HX chips. Those aren't available in the UK though
Wonder wh the 4000series was open and yet locked so hard on the 5000
Only amd knows
the CL timings and such, is that a luck of the draw with the memory controller, or is that the silicon lottery of the RAM, guessing that if the memory controller is locked you can't boost voltage for the timings?
Ya silicon lottery.
Nope can’t boost voltage.
Honestly, I wouldn’t bother. The gains are so minimal.
Now I see why it's so much hassle for a H chip
That is a little bit of a bummer. The Gskill kits are XMP only if I remember, so the Fury impacts are the best JEDEC option.
NArrows the mods down to cooling, the 140w flash and the Panel.
The cl18 gskill is xmp. The other kits are not.
Also, I do apologise for being so pig headed. I had my heart set on being able to mess with the RAM from what I had been told, didn't want to believe that is wasn't an option

Is there anything else that can be done to the 15ACH6H, or am I already doing all I can?
I think that’s about it.
Thank you very much, saved me a lot of wasted time and frustration.
On another note while I have your attention, how are the 6800H models? or are they locked too?
Same thing. Locked.
Actually, a 6800h user here was able to tinker in bios with ram stuff I think.
@waxen dock you were able to OC ram/adjust timings in bios with 6800h right?
That would be pretty sweet, my main is a 6800H A15, I have the Gskill CL34 kit, which thankfully this gen runs PnP
yeah he did although he hard bricked while doing it so
By hard brick, you mean screwed completely?

I'm not fully up on all the lingo, care to explain to a noob, please?
Reflashing the bios with a programmer.
Welp, not worth trying it then. I know of those things but I am not versed in the slightest on how to make or use one lol
Yes, helps a lot at high frame rate (unsurprisingly) stability and reducing overall microstutters in games
Brick happened I tightened tRDRDSCL/tWRWRSCL
Maybe DDR5 or the DIMM's I had didn't like it too low
Holy cow.
@waxen dock What did were you using and what did you manage to squeeze out of them?
KIt*
was some samsung soldered single rank 8GB onto motherboard + single rank 8GB hynix SODIMM
they ran 4800@cl32/32/32 flawlessly until the board died
now im on 34/36/32, some micron soldered ram SR 8GB on mobo, + the same SR 8GB hynix SODIMM
Did you need to alter any voltages? I'm currently running the Gskill CL34 kit. I wouldn't mind tweaking it a little I just can't afford to brick it lol
