#High Temps on Legion 5i 12500h - 3060

they will be clowns cause they are
guy told me that i shouldn't order a legion online cause they'll put a higher power rated gpu and cpu on a board that "couldn't take it"
nah nah i got some other solution to him
so far I haven't used that yet, I just showed them the specs of my CPU and mentioned its already throttling and it will never go to 105
lets see
if they still don't agree im just gonna go to the service center
Gen 7 3060 keeps hitting 86c at 130w
the AMD one pretty much did all the time, but intel was cooler as i remember
3060 gen 6, also hit max 140W at 80c, CPU 45W
yup
i see
Finally Legion folks told me they will send a technician to my place within 3 business days once they find a replacement part
CHADDDD
getting a heatsink replacement
lessgo enjoy
they mentioned ill get new heatsink, fan and it comes with thermal pads
so i guess im getting PTM

yes
tell the technician not to apply their own paste
yep, now I hope this is completed by a within a week
back to chad temps
will record the entire repair process too

I hope 🙏🏼
undervolt that bish
didn't have to use the images you shared either

Thanks everyone for helping out!
bro its like hit or miss
my keyboard replacement went smooth af didnt even need to argue
Yeah, my experience was annoying, took them a week to even agree to replacement
the fan made them act fast i think
hope the replacement is fine
creaks like hell
same 🙏🏼

Hey, most of the Indian repair technician are inexperienced when it comes to gaming laptops. I got my heatsink replaced but the guy didn't screw the heatsink properly on the die. Now my CPU is again reaching thermal limits
im planning to record the entire repair process
what did you to fix the issue ?
Im not very confident after hearing about other users experiences from the legion india discord
It was all good for me, they rescrewrd my heatsink fine
At the moment, I mostly play games on medium graphics settings.
Keep in mind that the screws are based on a spring system, therefore it is recommended to complete one turn before moving on to the next screw and repeating the process until the heatsink is fully installed.
truly clown as the 12500H has 100 thermal limit
if possible you should watch the whole heat sink replace procedure, and follow the "one turn per screw (in order from 1 to 6) until all screws are secured"
Yea will be watching and recording the process
get an 8k camera
infringe that man's privacy

put ur eyeballs on the laptop

ignore me today im high cuz summer holidays baby
Nice enjoy, no vacations once you start working
indeed
Got my replacement today lets goooooooooooooo
back to 40-45 idle temps
time to run a bunch of benchmarks
LESS GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
legion turning into chad mode
Haven't run benchmarks yet
do it
just played apex on 1440p comp settings, cpu went upto 71 and gpu to 73
and It was constantly using 120w+
FEELS GOOD
thats more like legion thermals
now bros gonna stick to laptops forever
Ran aida extra for 10 mins and it hasn't gone above those temps

only the thermals pissed me off loved the laptop otherwise
btw the old sink has dust stuck in corners
hardened stuff
i doubt compressed air would have cleaned it
but in the future I know how to clean my heatsink now
and also old thermal paste was crusty af
heatsink
Throttle Stop itself gives you the ability to set TDP: TPL/Power Limits Controls/Long Power PL1
12gen works great in the 18-26W range. I tested it in many games and there is no need for it to use more power, it has plenty of it. It’s also a good idea to turn off the turbo. It works well in most applications and games, and in windows it allows you to significantly lower the temperatures.
Personally, I have turbo turned off under windows, in games I turn on and use the Long Power PL1 18-26W range depending on the game.
I also recommend undervolting the GPU in MSI Afterburner. There are some tutorials on youtube. These two things give great results in lowering the temperature (CPU and GPU are on the same cooler so they influence each other), but also help to achieve consistent and better performance. It is also a good idea to change the paste to Honeywell PTM 7950 or liquid metal (higher risk here). After optimizing the CPU, GPU (ThrottleStop, MSI Afterburner) and changing the paste to Honeywell, my laptop runs faster and is really cold.
I have Legion 5 pro 2022 i12900H/RTX 3070ti
