Describe the issue: I have two computers. One for work. One for gaming. I have a Huawei monitor with HDMI 2.0 and display port 1.4. I am using a dock to plug my mouse/keyboard/Ethernet/hdmi input. The end is connected to the PC through USB-C. For the gaming computer, I use the second USB-C port to connect with a cable USB-C to DP 1.4 for better gaming performances. My problem is, when both USB-C port are connected (one for the dock and one for the DP cable) the gaming laptop will always use the dock in priority and send the image to the screen through it (therefore HDMI). When I switch to DP entry in the screen menu, it gives me no signal error.
What have you tried already?: see above
When did it start producing the issue: when I started to use dock + usb-c to DP cable
Did you install new drivers or software?: yes
Can you provide images/videos to show us the issue: not sure it is relevant```

Could you take a picture of your cable setup? Sounds like you plug 2 screen output to one screen.
Sorry if my English is not very precise. In a few word I have it like this :
- work PC -> usb-C -> Dock -> hdmi monitor -> everything is fine
- gaming PC -> usb-c to DP -> DP port of same monitor
The thing is, when I want to play, I also plug the dock to my gaming PC in order to use keyboard etc. Therefore, I have 2 usb-C plugged on my gaming PC, and one is the dock also plugged in HDMI to the monitor. So yes, in the gaming context, I have two input at the same time in the monitor. But I can’t switch to the DP input
The goal is to only changes the dock USB-C cable from one PC to another when I switch from work to gaming or the opposite.
The problem is one is for the dock (keyboard mouse and internet) and one is for the DP 1.4 output. If I unplug the second, I will be in the hdmi of the dock. Which is low refresh rate. If I unplug the dock, I won’t have keyboard mouse and Ethernet lol
I wanted to know if there is a way to configure the computer to tell it what cable to use as priority for the video output
How about buying a dock with a Displayport on it
Or a proper KVM switch
I thought about it. But only problem is that with this setup you can’t have g-sync
Well I suggest a KVM switch for your keyboard and mouse perhaps.
I guess it is a way of doing it but I will also mean pluggin the switch and the video output each time I change computer. I wanted to find a way to do it with one cable only (I am changing often from work to game)
no need to.
Just plug the KVM switch to the hub.
Hum can you show me what is a KVM switch please ?
Thank you 🙏🏼
Well I actually found a very simple solution 🥲
Directly into windows screen settings, choose to disconnect the screen detected as HDMI. Then it will send the signal to the DP cable. Case solved haha.
Still I like the idea of your KVM switch. That can make it even easier I guess
I mean your setup is wack at best and worst, kinda dumb to have 2 cable between the same machine to the same screen.
maybe it's because i'm not explaining correctly that it makes not much sense.
The purpose is to have everything plugged into the dock, and then* plug the dock from one PC to the other.
Only problem with that is that the dock does not support DP1.4 + g-sync. So I had to buy a "usb-c to DP cable" in addition for my gaming laptop. See ?
I know haha but I wouldn't have g-sync. As g-sync is only working when you plug the video cable directly to the computer. If you have a dock in between = no g-sync
I actually do have DP ports in my docks ! but they are only DP 1.2 so the refresh rate is limitated. And the g-sync is not supported because the Graphic Card needs to be directly connected to the monitor
Hence the need to buy this usb-c to DP cable. In order to enjoy 165hz + g-sync.
does anyone get light flickering using G-sync with an external monitor? using a legion 5 with RTX 3060. Not all games do it though, seem to vary with frametimes.
Next time ask in #questions
Will do, sorry
I have this in the loading screen of Genshin impact. Didn’t notice it somewhere else. Don’t know why it’s doing that.
You need a KVM switch and put the dock in between the laptop and the KVM switch you pick. PC will connected video cables and USB cable directly to the KVM switch.
All shared keyboard, mouse, speaker, webcam or other USB sharing devices should be plugged into the share console connections of the KVM switch.
