#NVIDIA Control Panel not detecting laptop display
60 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Are you in hybrid mode?
Switch to gpu mode if you want the dGPU to connect directly to the laptop screen
It should pick every monitor. My 3 external monitors are connected to the laptop. 1 is connected via HDMI and 2 monitors are connected via docking station (USB-C) which has 2 HDMIs
Thank you, hybrid mode was the culprit. It detects all the monitors now.
Whaaaat. Are you Win11 as well by any chance?
Yes!
Okay I give xD Thanks for telling me though, I'd like for it to work in hybrid mode
Maybe... try with different nvidia driver?
I remembered that when I started using the laptop on latest nvidia driver, output detection was so wacky because monitors kept flickering, turning on and turning off and so on
I mean, that was so scary stuff
Then I downgraded to 517 or whatever it was and that fixed it
But then I had that weird shadow and color flickering in the game Need for Speed The Heat and I was forced to downgrade to 511.79 version
I mean those nvidia drivers are so freakishly bugged
It's not a problem
By default the laptop runs on the integrated GPU
To save power
So the laptop screen would not show up in the Nvidia Control Panel is not a problem
@gusty urchin I'm kinda noob with tech stuff, but I follow what you have said so far. I just got this laptop, I guess I haven't updated the drivers yet. Also it's saying my OS is Win10, idk if this is a problem.
Because you probably activated advanced optimus duh
It's not an issue from the start

Educate yourself before helping others and making problem complicate
That's normal. Windows 11 is mostly windows 10 under the hood. Your laptop is fine, just the way laptop works. Got it?
Yup, gotcha. Think I got what I need, appreciate all the input
@blazing dome you can read this to understand WHEN the laptop display is connected to the dGPU
Nope, advanced optimus was and is still disabled 😮
well send a screenshot up here?
This does not prove anything?
His laptop should be still able to detect external monitors in hybrid mode
Click "Configure Surround, PhysX" in the nvidia control panel
Did you read his question?

@gusty urchin Did you really really read his question?
Hmm, then I may have misunderstood his question...
He was asking why the laptop internal display not showing up in nvidia control panel

And you ran full force to randomly recommend downgrading driver for no reason
My bad....
Well, it is true though, Nvidia drivers gave me plenty troubles, especially latest version....
It will not hurt for him to try 511.79 which is "best" working so far
Doesn't mean you should randomly recommending downgrading driver
Alright, I will be shut up. Once again, I apologize
No, 511.79 also have issue of being an old driver you know?
Many games don't play well with 511.79 because of the age
That's why I only recommend to downgrade unless no other option viable
I understand
@sly oar May I ask a question though?
He mentioned he got new laptop (that's how it sounds to me, please correct me if I'm wrong). What bothers me that by default laptop's panel shouldn't be disabled when connecting any external monitor to the laptop for first time.
no it's not
It's just not showing up in Nvidia control panell doesn't mean it's not working
In that case if you want to change display seting, you have to go to Intel Command Center
@blazing dome The laptop display work but doesn't show up in the Nvidia Control Panel right?
@sly oar yes laptop display works, just didn't show up in Control Panel. After switching off of hybrid and restarting, the laptop display showed up
I guess it is best idea for me to continue somewhere instead talking here, @blazing dome once again, I apologize...
Next time, in Hybrid mode, if you need to change display setting, you need to go to Intel Command Center to configure it, because the Internal Display is connected to the intel gpu, yeah?
@sly oar makes sense, thank you
