#USB-C Charging Not Working

Did you try EC reset and then to charge?
I have no idea how to do that, and Google didn't yield many results specific to the Legion machines - could you briefly explain or link me to a guide please?
From what I understand, I need to somehow push a reset button hidden somewhere on the machine, and that'll reset some microcontroller on the motherboard?
Its easy
Shutdown the laptop, unplug all cables, charger too.
Press and hold power button for 60 seconds, keep holding even if the laptops powers on, release and then power on the laptop by clicking the power button.
Alright, I'll try that, thanks!
Obligatory question though, is there anything I could lose from doing so?
Would it reset the BIOS, something more, something less?
Still nothing
The power adapter shows a power draw, but the laptop still isn't charging
Yes, I am
SlimQ 240W adapter
using provided cables right?
ok, so can you check charge rate with hwinfo or #legion-toolkit
Keep in mind, if the battery is over 95% full, it won’t charge
Discharge rate is the same both plugged and unplugged
And no, I'm using a third-party cable because no USB-C cables are provided
That's something I hadn't even considered
I'll see if I can find some other cables to test with
If I may chime in. I don't have your charger, but also had issues with my 7i Gen 7 and PD 3.0 charging with an otherwise potent 100W charger with a fitting cable. Having it plugged in, it shows indeed as charging, but no matter the battery percentage, it would simply use the battery. Tried a second PD 3.1 charger (which only operates as a 100W 3.0 charger on the 7i), that one is working flawlessly, charging as requested. Someone here wrote that Lenovo are very picky with which PD charger is working and which one won't.
Apart from that, can't you use your 240W charger with the Lenovo tip the company provides, so you're using the full 240W it gives you?
Support told me to do so as well a few days back. Shut down the computer, held the power button, and the laptop went into an on/off loop and wouldn't stop. Does that usually happen with some devices?
I can, however the USB-C charging is a nice-to-have as it is slightly more portable as well as compatible with other machines. It also opens up the main port of the power adapter to use with other laptops / connectors if necessary
and I had experienced the exact same thing when I tried it, so I'm assuming that's intentional? I was just on a loop of hearing the fans and keyboard start and stop every 8 seconds
Well understood, regardless of of the SlimQ, PD charger are usually a lot more portable, smaller and lighter, so that's why I was fighting to get my first PD charger running 🏃. No luck whatsoever. If they make PD charging available and advertise it, why not allowing or enabling all chargers? Why does the second one work, and the other doesn't?
I have no idea. If that is the way to make sure all components let go of a rest charge, why doesn't it work with our device?
It's quite annoying, but by far not a deal-breaker for me - if it just simply doesn't work, then I'll put up with it. Would be nice to get it functional though
No, I mean, yes: It should work, both for you and me with any PD 3.0 charger. You could try another one, I'm still happy the second one is doing its job in my case. The port itself is working, obviously not with every device connected.
I'll definitely look into testing another cable, but for now, I'm probably gonna mark this issue as resolved
Thanks a lot, everyone!
Alright, enjoy your night 🌃!
make sure you get 5A cable with support 100w, normally you can feel the cable is thicker than normal type c cable
Kinda tempted to just make my own cable tbh
aay aay slow down...
if it's PD-only, it can't be that complicated, right?
you"ll need an emarker chip etc etc
