I introduced the present version of the Gauntlet to a few of my friends who aren’t hardcore gamers, and they all shared the same feedback. They felt overwhelmed, the gameplay was too fast-paced, and they didn’t have enough time to strategize properly. As a result, they resorted to random tactics, which left them feeling unsatisfied. The learning curve was so steep that after just one or two attempts, they gave up and had no interest in trying again.

For a game with this level of complexity, an asynchronous mode could be a much better introduction. It would allow new players to learn the mechanics at their own pace before transitioning into the high-intensity live Gauntlets. Right now, the game’s biggest draw for veterans—its depth and complexity—is also its biggest barrier for newcomers. An asynchronous PvP mode could help bridge that gap and make the game more accessible without compromising its strategic depth and its social element.
