I think it has more to do with the milestone rewards, you can get a lot more value from them if you buy standards, but megas should be the way to go if you are after rare illuvitars

I've had way more 'luck per money spent' with standard disks. It just sucks when you're on a few hundred dollar budget and you spend that on a few Megas, and the best you get are Lynxes or less than 1800 power not so rare illuvitars.

6 standard price = 1 mega price
6 random ILV + 6 tier 0 > 1 random + 1 high power
6 count for disk goal > 1 count for disk gold

Of course you have higher chance to hit jackpot with mega since they remove those below 1k5.

Also take into account which leaderboard you want to push. Im like 38th on mega , 75th on standard, so i need to buy more standard.

Wave 2 Alpha mega disks are now more expensive than wave 1 alpha mega disks.

And there were concerns wave 2 is a failure.

And mint price for wave 1 was 0.125 ETH and for wave 2 0.05 ETH 5 times less.

Depends on your viewpoint. If you're an investor in wave 2 it's like 5 times more successfull than wave 1.
If you work for the DAO. Then maybe it's not that big of a success, yet. Volume and royalties for all I know can bring more money from wave 2, than wave 1.
And trading fees have to be the more important metric, than initial mint prices. If a disk changes hands like 10 times, depending on the price it can earn more for the DAO, than the mint.

I agree, although due to the sheer limited volume of wave 2 Alphas, it does make them an extremely attractive investment.
If I wasn't so deep into wave 1, I woud be buying up as may as I could.

As the games get more popular over time, the print numbers on future waves should increase quite dramatically in comparison to where we are at today, making wave 2 ever more attractive/desirable as time goes by.

It's definitely going to be interesting to look back in years to come and see exactly how this stuff played out.

Yes. Beyond Illuvitars are PFP nfts that you get from opening d1sks and fit into an online album to get ILV rewards. Battle in the Beyond lets you open Illuvitar D1sks alongside other players. They battle for whoever opens the highest power D1sk. Illuvitars have no connection to the main games yet (OW, Arena, Zero). They might in the future tho, hopefully.

I put all my eth into beyond, and view it as a way to play nfts, eth and also get yield...relatively risk free considering it against crypto in general. Weekly payouts in ILV are only worth more and more...actual yield is quite amazing: 52 weeks x current ilv prices is over 4k a year for top 50! You can buy someone's whole top 50 collection for 3 eth, so doesn't take long to make this a short term win, and perhaps a long-term homerun, if nft prices increase as well as eth...and of course we can see what ILV does quickly with good news.

Right now, there isn't any indication of the leaderboard rewards anywhere around the album. On the leaderboard page, all it says is: "Fill your Album with your most powerful Illuvitars and complete multiple collections to maximise your Album points and increase your rank." No mention of rewards.

With the flood of new people expected to come and check Beyond out after the beta launch, shouldn't we make this info more prominent? This is the main incentive for collecting currently, and all these new people will have no clue about it. Adding a sentence about ranking in the top 100 for weekly ILV rewards would get the attention of many people and could help market activity. Any thoughts on this @frosty knot ?

It's pretty tough to figure out, because if you are bonding that many and you're buying the most efficient accessories it's hard to get a good price/power ratio all at once. If you had 2-3 weeks to spread out accessory purchases and look for illuvitars that are good power/cost it'd help

take in consideration if you take some lower value collections (e.g. position 90-100), you will need to keep up bonding and buying stuff if you want to be in top 100 and get those leaderboard rewards

theres also a difference in 'value' and how much it would cost to put together the collection from square one

also time invested honestly, would take prob 6-12hrs of 'work' to set up a top 100 collection depending if you do the bonding yourself

a collection might be 'worth' 1-1.5 eth but for a new player to rebuild that collection from scratch could cost 2-3eth, especially as wave 1 scarcity increases

I don’t agree. I think that for someone new you need less than eth for top 100 with buying only what you need and bonding everything. For older players with collections already would be a bit more expensive. In reality my collection is worth a bit more because of wave 1 alpha. That doesn’t count for leaderboards. I also have some duplicates that might be useless towards collections.

depends on what part of the 100 you want to be in. You could sneak into top 100 for probably around 1 eth, especially buying ugly bonded secondary illuvitars, which are often priced under unbonded versions. Also, someone was selling a top 50 collection for 3.5 eth, and that might be even a better buy if you have crypto not earning anything as the payout offers quite a good yield. That collection (if still available) had some rare and holos unbonded, which for future resell would be worth more than bonded in most cases. And to stay in the top 100 is a moving number, so you'll need some dry powder to buy into the promo and especially wave 3 coming up in January to maintain your position. hopefully they expand the payouts beyond 100 at some point also.....

I think that is a fair assessment. The only issue with tier zeros is they change the background but still only one slot for all the waves, with lots of supplies. Did you do more disks or secondary or mixture of both? and what made you not want to stay?

I think it's still difficult to see at this stage, should be a much clearer picture once the game is launched and all systems are working. Until then, delays are always on the table. Aaron said earlier that he would prefer 50-illuvial waves, rather than the 25 we currently have. But when I asked this last time, there was no answer, I kinda think wave 3 is still planned with 25 illuvials.
