Depents. I have a few 1 of 1 illuvitars that i keep clean because later i believe people will want them. And also agree with Olivender that its better to buy it directly if ilv is your aim.

Not alot of data on sellings for both of them. I think in later stages when the games come out, illuvitars have utility and more people joining in i think those prices are undervalued.

Slashin is a melee illuvial and i think alot of people will like him in the game. So holding the most rare one gotta count for something later on 👌🏻

that will definitely change in future i think....people are focused on album building mostly at beginning stage...later on down the road when demand for the collecting side of things increases i think alphas will become much more in demand and valued

how ever it goes i think both alpha and non alpha will do very well ....especially for wave 1...even the non alphas are quite rare and there are some non alpha versions that dont exist as alpha so demand for cards like that will be huge regardless of if they alpha or not....but i think the price gap overall between alpha and non alpha will eventually widen

compared to how it is now

for instance a basic alpha rhamphyre will probably for sure go from 2x the price of a non alpha version to probably over 5x the price or maybe even over 10x the price or something like that

Over time I believe so too.
The closer we see Alpha prices get to non alpha prices, the greater the investment opportunity IMO.
The success/failure of Alphas should not be judged based on such a short time frame.

indeed...especially at these early stages it seems 95% of the time people were buying based on the power level it gives their album or just the aesthetic and not whether it had alpha or non alpha label associated with it...as time goes by and more collectors get involved the alpha label will have much more impact and people will want them because it will be a huge flex to have an alpha version the same way people will pay way more for brand name clothes even though you could get exact same thing without the high end designer label for way cheaper

So here's what I propose. Expand the leaderboard now with 100-125 rank getting .25 ILV each week, 75-99 get .5 ILV a week, 50-74 get .75 a week. 25-49 ranked get 1 ILV a week, and 11-24 get 1.25 ILV a week with the top ten unchanged. No one gets less than before but the tiers make it more interesting and profitable to move up.

The proposal isn't bad per se. It's just a little late. It's not as if nobody told them price was too high before release. If they did not care then, they shouldn't care now and anger their early alpha buyers/investors. But there's no way wave 1 alpha's will retain value if this gets pushed. Especialy my lovely tier 0's...And numbers wise: I don't think a 24 hour sale at those prices is going to go the way they want (again).

Removing the alpha concept is something i think should be considered, or atleast keeping the price multiplier, in that way those who whants to collect only alphas can keep doing so without the enormous inflation this iccp will bring.

I voiced my opinion about price being too high before all of this. So I do agree about that. My problem is that they went along with it. Then got disappointed by volume. Now they're changing it again (something that's probably going to happen a lot with the new dao structure). Should have been like this from the beginning. There's no 'expensive' 1st edition pokemon card packs for exemple. They get expensive on secondary. But nobody pays 5X in store for a 1st edition. They just can't keep changing the rules. Or they can, of course. But shouldn't is my point. So I'm not against 'cheap' alpha's, I'm against changing price after just one wave and plenty of voiced concerns beforehand.

This IIP was made with intention of keeping it as is stated in it for the foreseeable future.
Wave 1 was the odd one out if this IIP passes now, but future waves would use these same rules. I personally would like to see this unchanged for the future waves of Set 1, after which we can discuss how Set 2 will look and feel.

That is a fun idea. But there are some issues with it:

1. It would make for empty bragging rights and the issue that entire wallets would have to be sold to someone else. After all, trading the alpha would reduce its value. So you basically remove any market value of the alpha stamp.

2. Trading fees will make up a large portion if Illuvium's revenue. Deteriorating the NFTs every sale would be negative for revenue.

3. It would take development time that could be spent on other things ^^

I just don't see the need to completely overhaul alpha structure at this point. Like I said, I don't think there are many new buyers yet. So why cause more tention with people after everything that went wrong with promo sale? Those are your only buyers, untill open beta. You could argue revamping alpha when open beta is here, is fine or even a must (if not for value, than at least for semantics sake...)

But Alpha sale was just fine imo, Mega's did sell out, no? Just add a stamp (like intended) before the next one and secondary would likely start to move along with new sales, maybe add T5 Illuvitar pic on the disk of every alpha d1sk (so Rham for alpha wave 1 for exemple) and desirabilty goes up again. Makes it easier recognisable at the same time.

Just spittballing here, but there's better solutions out there, I believe. Plus, I'm pretty sure one of the founders actually stated prices would be the same for all waves. I know it's a dao (and that's why most of us are here). But change for changes sake is something to be weary of.

And just to be clear, I don't own that many Alpha's. So I'm not playing devil's advocate because of lack of financial gain.

This would really be mostly a problem if we would be selling the same illuvitars. But we arent. therefor the known wave 1 illuvitars will always have a higher price than anything that follows.. which is similar to old Trading cards vs New trading cards (usually).

At the time of the first release, I don't believe they were mis-priced as they did completely sell out (megas). A clear indicator that the market was willing to pay that amount for the limited availability.

Being the first wave, you don't have the benefit of hindsight.
With the knowledge of how the first wave performed, a lot of people have voiced that they will make different buying decisions moving forward into future waves, especially concerning alphas. This has to be taken on board and the project has to adapt to ensure that it is not only meeting the expectations of the broader community, but also ensuring engagement and success in the Beyond project moving forward.

I did invest a fair amount into wave 1 Alphas and I believe that investment, in light of the new proposal, will remain fruitful over time. They will always be the 1st and I believe the most desirable. Unlimited still outnumber them almost 4 - 1.
Alphas were never meant a be a get rich quick scheme, they are a long term investment, nothing has changed in that regard.

If you want to hammer leaderboard and bond, you don't need to buy alphas. If you want to collect and hold for investment purposes, theres no better time to load up now they are $30. Those strategies are now more readily available to everyone, a great step forward, that I support 100%.

I don't believe this would have been the case as people generally do not want to bond alphas for leaderboard purposes.
Increasing leaderboard positions/rewards would only further incentivise unlimited disk sales, not alphas IMO.

Totally understand the frustration, but it's all part of being this early in a project that is basically in beta, things can change and quickly, but that is a major advantage, not a disadvantage.
The fact that the community can voice their opinions and not only be heard but have their opinions acted upon and put into practice in such a short amount of time is testament to the strength of the project as a whole and should be celebrated.
You cannot please 100% of the people, 100% of the time, but they are for damn sure trying. That does seem quite apparent.

I don't see how going from $230 to $30 can be justified for the same item. Lower price points for extended disks are great though, giving more chance for completing collections for a lot more people.

Anyway, proposal might turn out to be a good thing. But like Doom says, when you price alpha's (almost) the same as non-alpha's (after first 5X'ing them) you create something weird and probably devaluate the accesory market (hence regular standards) just to have more people flood the market with their unwanted alpha's?

About the leaderboard, my rationale was more like lb announcement got more people involved. People that otherwise would not have been interested in Beyond but would have bought alpha's because they were going to buy regulars anyway.

Alpha wave 1 is unique, never to be repeated and is always likely to hold a premium above any proceeding waves.

I think the thing to consider is that it seems much better than if we were to repeat wave 1 alpha procedure. Time will tell how good this method is but if we stuck to the one we had before we’d had less alphas than wave 1 which is somewhat an issue

An alpha mega disk is the same item, regardless of which wave it is from. I know that it may seem harsh to call it an outright mistake, but all my years spent in marketing, working with a wide variety of clients and seeing the pricing models across many industries makes me say it is one. In no industry where you have high-end collectors, you find such a low price multiplier between premium lines and normal lines. If we have a premium line, there has to be a certain price premium too, otherwise, why have it? And as for my desired outcome, it is the long-term health of the Illuvium project, where high-end collectors have a place, imo. I will be a happy buyer of the cheaper normal disks, though 🙂

You are right, the initial pricing was out of whack, especially because the team already knew that there would be ILV rewards for the leaderboard. With that knowledge and the fact that there was not even a visual differentiator planned for alphas at that point, it would have been reasonable to predict that the value proposition was out of balance there. But this has already happened, and we need to continue from here. I hope you are right about the 24 hour window, but I still feel that at least a 2x price multiplier is needed between alphas and extended disks. In either case, the new pricing will be friendlier for mass adoption and that will ultimately be the biggest help for the value appreciation of these early waves.

Any mention on Wave 2 disc opening / illuvitar reveal will work? At start of wave 1 you knew which cards were the accessories, the rare and TO etc then it changed to be random which myself and a lot of other people found quite annoying. I was hoping Wave 2 would go back to original format as I thought it was much more fun opening the rare disk last or first but at least you got the choice on what you revealed first.

1 eth couldve gotten you quite far in the end. Rhamphyre went for 0.65-0.7 orso at the least and the other 0.35 wouldve been enough to buy 1 of the rest. Expressions are a different story of course.

In Illuvium Zero and the arena, you will be able to brag with your PFP.

there was also an idea floating around where the Illuvitars could be fitted onto an Illuvial for a potential card game. This has not yet been confirmed nor is it actively being worked on though. It would require a community vote and a solid GDD at some point.

I think It depends mostly on the supply though - disks being cheaper i expect more to be opened thus more Ophistos on the market ... so if we're going to have about double the number of Rhamph then yeah we can see it around 0.4-0.5
But in the case the pull rates for Ophisto are going to be low i can see it equally or more valuable .. imagine only 50 Ophistos getting pulled in the entire wave 2 then i think 1.7-2ETH will be the minimum price

I believe the Rhamphyre will be the most desirable illuvitar in the entire set, along with being wave 1 and likely rarer in number than tier 5's from proceeding waves, it should always command a higher price point.

This may not be the case as the latest wave is live, as hype could drive prices of certain illuvitars higher, but once the hype dies down I believe their prices will fall back in line over time.

Although rarity/supply is important, as we know, the Rhamphyre punches above it's weight and consistently sells for higher prices than much rarer illuvitars.

yep exactly and i think the future t5 s3 illuvitars will prob. do the same in terms of price since they are the top of the top of each wave with Rhamphyres maybe holding a bit more of a premium compared to the others especially long term

Prices in the future are all speculations. It all depents on the market and the people who buy and sell in there. If nfts from immutale get the the same volume as opensea does shit can go bonkers for alot of illuvitars. But i think prices from a wave before the next wave will always be more valluable since you cant get those illuvitars from earlier waves out of disks anymore.

Doesnt have to be. When the real games come out, people can become a fan of any other illuvial/illuvitar. The character needs to be fun to play with also. Personally i like playing with geyyser and slashin over rham in the games.

I could easily see Rhamps having a ceiling, not floor, of 1 eth. You have just a few hoarders now, but if the market cracks, it could tumble, especially with new illuvitars filling that section of the album, and new options which may actually even look better.
