alpha mega vs standard price ratio is like 2.6:1, megas still sitting at 73% of mint price.

Thats because no-one wants to pay $160 to pull a $20 illuvial. It is far more cost effective to just buy the one you want on the secondary market. You can buy holos for less than a disk.

The market needs to find balance. I personally think disks needs to come down quite drastically to meet demand.

if the price of disks came down.. the price of illuvitars would drop even more... sure most of the time you pull garbage from disks.. but the whole point is you do have a chance to pull that one thing that may be worth more than 50 disks...

The odds are too low though. A Rhamphyre is 1 in 1000 odds. That is too little incentive. In Pokemon the odds of pulling a 1st edition Charizard from a booster pack in 1 in 36 packs, far more incentive to try and pull it. 1 in 1000 is a why bother. I think these odds need to be rethought for the next waves.
It's a collector game that is designed to not allow 99.9% of collectors to ever complete their collections.

Lowering the price alone wont resolve the issue but it may help the supply side a little by enabling more people to open them, however with the ridiculously low pull rates, not many will get to pull the cards anyway, leaving a sour taste for the vast majority of people looking to complete collections.

Right now the juice isn't worth the squeeze and the market is stating that loud and clear because at these prices, demand is literally zero.

lowering prices won't increase demand. which is the real problem right now is there's no demand for this. nobody wants random unknown character cards with no actual value. This would have done much better after game release. either way... because of the "low demand" right now, limited disks open, one day, this batch will be worth more than others.

I think you are looking at this with way too short of a time horizon. Price is low because most speculators bought megas and now want liquidity. But only a small fraction of future demand only even knows about this right now. Once you have way more players, the demand will boost the prices of alpha illuvitars and that's when the disk prices will skyrocket. Those who hold alpha mega disks will see a massive return on them.

My argument is to increase supply by increasing the pull rate odds in future releases, allowing vastly more people to actually complete their collections and incentivise people to buy and open disks.

Your argument is to increase the player base, to increase the price of illuvitars, which in turn will get people to pay more for the disks.

I agree with you on the low pull rate. It sucks that I basically had to give up right at the beginning ever to have a complete collection. However, that cat is likely out of the bag now, not sure it would be possible to mess with pull rates in future waves as that would mess up the balance. But it does not kill the collection game, just look at how many people are collecting stamps and many other things and they never have the chance for a complete collection either. There are many albums to complete for small players as well and they can still have fun doing it. Plus you have the leaderboard too.

They are almost $9 and with a 1 in 1000 pull rate, on average you would need to spend $8800 for a Rhamphyre. That prices most people out entirely, which is a huge disincentive.
They need to be difficult to pull but not feel impossible.
Most people should be able to get one, the added rarity should come from backgrounds etc,

If the Rhamphyre was a 1 in 200, making them 5 times more accessible, I dont think that would hurt the values too much, It would still be extremely rare to get one, especially with a tier 3,4,5 background adding extra rarity and value for collectors.

That would hugely kill demand for a project like this and that is why every project that is similar designs things this way. When I collect sports cards and there is no hard to obtain chase cards I dont even bother....to me the thrill of the chase is one of the biggest components to the enjoyment as well as the strategy behind the whole trading concept

You can hunt for higher tier backgrounds, matching background colors for the whole set, and as you make some profit trading, can go after holos. Everyone has to find their own collection game within the game and it's still fun for everyone.

Start small with T0s collection ... trade duplicates ...go for higher backgrounds, expressions etc until you have the funds to start completing those more powerful ones... if 100 people would be able to complete the collection in a day where would the rarity, value and fun in that be?

I'm actually an avid pokemon card collector. And a pullrate of 1 in 36 isn't totally accurate. The odds are roughly 1 in 3 for a random holo. 36 packs per boosterbox. You were never guaranteed to get a charizard in every box though. But statistically every boosterbox should have a 75% chance to have any holo of your choice. To get a charizard (according to statistics) you should therefore buy two boosterboxes, 48 individual packs (or a combo). But again, those were never guaranteed odds. But I get your point. Although you could take into consideration that pokemon wasn't trying to become the next pokemon back then. And if they had, those pullrates might have been a lot higher (they are these days anyway). Also, nft's don't degrade. They will always be PSA 10's so to speak. In that case it's good pullrates are more unforgiving.

yes if you sell your best Illuvitar in your album, then you'll lose the points. What Highrise is saying is that you would just use your second-best Illuvitar for that slot and get a majority of points back since the difference between the two may only be like 100 points.

yeah definitely a cool feature for the future. For now to have a similar result, you could go to Tokentrove, you would be able to connect there and cross reference which ones you Like and don't like. Then you can simply hover over them on there and list them for an extra 2% on top of what you'd pay on Illuvium. (or cross reference them back and list them individually on the Illuvidex for 2% less fees)

You could look at your Album on one browser, then go to tokentrove on another browser and Like each of your best Illuvitars. It's a pain in the ass, but you'll at most have to like 75/150 Illuvitars (If you have all 25/50 Illuvials and their 3 expressions.)

On tokentrove you can't filter on non-favorite sadly. So if you want to then only sell the ones that aren't in your album, you could also like all of the ones you don't actually want to keep, then filter on Favorites and you can easily sell them one by one ón tokentrove.

So

1. liking all the ones you want to keep, then just go through them in a big overview and listing the ones you haven't liked,
   OR
2. liking the ones you actually want to sell, and then filter on them in Tokentrove.

Either way you'll need to do quite some manual liking 😄

I think you should interpret that as: the lighting, shadows, reflections all look as good as they get and are manually adjusted for each Illuvial for every accessory.

So if they add a new accessory they will have to manually go over 150 Illuvitar portraits again: 50 Illuvials, 3 expressions each, and potentially even their holo finish to ensure the accessory fits.

I would have bought more D1sks if it had been easier to obtain just a basic Rhamphyre. The Blazing should be really hard to get but the basic with the most common background shouldn't be so impossible.

I was just thinking the other day that sadly, in some ways, Beyond has kind of wrecked some of the Illuvials for me. Like Archie and the lynxes because they are so overpulled. I know I will probably be in the minority with this, but I wish the backgrounds were where the true rarity lay instead of in the Illuvial. LIke, have the T1 common back ground be worth less than the T5 common background but have the T1 rare background be harder to get and worth slightly more than the T5 common background/expression. I think it would help keep every Illuvial feeling valuable.

Singe and Squizz actually have very similar rarities, 0.2182% and 0.225% and while squizz's floor is about 33% higher than singe's they're not that far off. If I'm purchasing an illuvitar I don't feel much difference between paying $15 or $19 which is about where they are now.

But yeah in general the values are pretty whack. Adoredo/Goliant are only 3 times rarer than a Squizz/Singe but cost ~10x as much. I think there might just be too few buyers for true values to be shown. When there's more exposure, games released, more players it should be a lot easier to find true value.

Might find some REALLY good deals right now.

@tepid geyser there are lot of factors that make this much different to physical cards:

1. Note that there are rarish pulls in Pokemon (e.g. odds of getting any gold secret rare in Lost Origin are 0.76%, a specific one less than 0.2%)

2. Illuvitar rares are worth more, an ungraded gold rare from lost origins might get you $20. The best card from a current set might get you a few hundred dollars. We've already had many cards sell for over $1500.

(Yes overtime some very small set of old mint or near mint Pokemon cards to gain extreme values, most people don't want to wait 10+ years)

3. Condition is always mint, you don't have to worry about a scratch or nick, or slightly off centre printing.

4. You can still trade up, when did collecting become about buying thousands of packs rather than trading for what you want? Trade is good for Illuvium and good for you if you know what you are doing.

5. Expect leaderboards (coming real soon), and other features including ways to leverage 'junk cards' to add volume to both the low-end and high-end of the market.

6. NFTs are supposed to be non-fungible, we want there to be many slightly different variations, even if ramphyre was 10x more common, you could make the same completionist argument for getting everything with every background (Tier, Stage, and Colourway).

That said I don't the drop rates are perfect by any means, but these kinds of changes need to be carefully thought out and also go through the governance process via ICCP.

yes thats exactly it...i believe there was 2 seperate IMX token trading reward programs happening at that time and it must have been profitable to sell big trade volume to yourself....eat the fee and then make it back plus extra profit when dropped IMX tokens for passing certain trade volume thresholds

Some of us were looking at tier 0’s because they are tagged with wave 0 instead of 1 as other Illuvials. Will this be the case going forward for all tier 0’s? Ie, there will be no difference between a tier zero from wave 1 to wave 2? Is there any official statement on this?

currently on track to hit 780k illuvitars by wave end! this was 900k a few days ago and over 1m a week ago. seems like the rate is slowing lots. i doubt we will finish with more than 500k

Yeah but if we get to 500k that would already be solid imo cause then we would have around 5x the amount of non alphas compared to alphas...

And its only the first wave right? So theres plenty more to come in the future

we'll have to see as demand changes over the next 2.5 months but yeah that could make the alphas worth a lot more :p yep i think the plan is to always have a wave active, at least till all the illuvitars are released

I think I ran into a bug. I bought an Illuvitar and put in a Background collection. Then while it was there I added some accessories. It got automatically removed from the collection and now I can't put it back. It's not recognized any longer. I refreshed and also closed tab and logged in again. Any tips? Thx!

It removes it from the album cause your illuvitar + accessories get burned and a new one gets minted... have you tried autofill?

The only collection it is recognized in now is that of the accessory

there is no option for autofil besides the Piercing collection

But the Doka and Particle background collection don't see this Illuvitar anymore
