This new patch honestly makes no sense. Despite two weeks of complaints, fighters are getting buffed instead of nerfed
especially that annoying stage 5 bird. I don’t even know how it works, but it completely destroys my tank in 5 seconds and feels unbeatable. The game is really frustrating to play right now.

I always tend to cancel the queue if its on like 30 sec with 7/8. And then I see an matchmaking error so I know that I am actually in a match already. When I enter queue again it takes me to the screen where I can reconnect. Was like that in my last 5 matches

Quick Update:

Bugs and connections: Yes, it's still not perfect but we are getting through all the problems. Occasionally there are some new issues created when we add new features, but we are doing what we can. It's going to be rough (but improving) for the next couple months as we add in the rest of the features. Keep in mind we are trying to catch up to games that have been around for 5 years, so it does take time.

Balance: This is not going to be perfect. There's not much we can do here without massively slowing down progress. We have people working literally 5 patches into the future right now so it isn't really feasible to balance for a patch that will only last a week or so. We are only trying to address major issues and sometimes we will miss some of them.

The good stuff: We are really close on a few features. This will shake up the game but make it way more fun. And the remaining features aren't far behind. Auto balancing is underway and you'll really like how we do it. Put it this way. I'm sure that 'this comp wins against everything' type complaints will drop away once people realise that other comps are more powerful, in the right situations.

Basically, please keep up with the feedback (even if it harsh), but remember that you're accessing a game that is under HEAVY development. We're throwing every resource at it. Kieran and I are literally paying for some of the development ourselves so that we can get more resources on it.

It just means the logic for the multiplayer server is updating. Client doesn't need an update because inside the game the server just tells the client what's happening (like matchups). So matchup logic is fixed, and nothing needed on the player's side.

A more linear approach with fewer jumps forward might cause fewer issues and bring more benefits – less cost and more player satisfaction. If you ask for feedback and we tell you: 'fighters are too strong'... and the patch you present further increases their power... what's the point?

Let’s clarify the situation and the mechanics.

It showed that I was in 4th place.
It showed that I was in 4th place on Sota’s screen as well.

For Patate, it showed that I was in 5th place.
The final leaderboard also showed 5th place.

How does this work?
I understand that in the case of the same negative health, the one eliminated later wins. But the question is: why did it show a different position on my screen and Sota's screen?

I only have one theory. This moment is not properly handled in the game.

So, if there is a tie between players, some players see the correct result (Sneg's victory), while others see the incorrect result (my victory).

Is that how it works?

I would say the reason Sota ses you as the loser is because he actually played you, so his game knows immediately that you lost first and health went negative, and on your screen you lost out of the game before Sneg did. and then mykle wouldve been ahead of you but your game knew sneg lost but the timing part of who lost first. At least this is what makes sense to me. The end result screen is what matters with first place. The final screen cant show you the "actual final result" unless we introduced some sort of delay I guess for end of match, like "Match Results Pending" but that isnt very great imo

The only thing I really want is for players to see accurate results — both in live mode and on the final scoreboard.

I often see people arguing during tournaments because of questionable results on the final screen. It’s just unnecessary stress.

How do you show the accurate results though if you lose part way through a game/round and go out before others that then go out the same round as you? It is complicated is what I'm saying... we cant show you a future we dont know

The final result of the winner is what matters, I think showing match results for each player may help

Both Sneg and I took the same damage.
I was eliminated first. He was eliminated second.
That means he won.

How should it have been displayed?
First, it should have shown that I was eliminated.
Then, it should have shown that Sneg was eliminated — and he should be in 4th place.

The issue is that the game incorrectly showed that I supposedly won the round.
The issue is that the game placed me in 4th and Sneg in 5th — but that’s not what the server had.

The core problem is that the game shifted him down and put me in his place.
That shouldn’t happen if the server already knew the correct result.

My screen: I did NOT take a screenshot of the live mode, but there I was shown in 4th place.
Sota’s screen: he also saw me in 4th place.

That’s the problem.
I’m not talking about the final leaderboard. I’m talking about player placement during the match.
It has always been accurate. Always. But in the case of a draw (which is rare for me), there’s a bug.

Hey guys, I want to clarify how the "Banking system" works.

It's a system meant for high-elo players (1800+ rating at the moment) to ensure that they stay active so they don't hit high ranks and just sit there forever without playing. It makes the user play at least 1 game per day on average, or they will start losing rating until they drop under 1800.

It's a system used in many competitive games with success.

This is how it works in a nutshell:

• The moment the player reaches 1800 Rating, they receive 5 Banked Games.

• The player loses 1 Banked Game per day.

• The player gains 1 Banked Game for each game played - up to a max of 5 Banked Games.

• The player can have a minimum of 0 Banked Games.

• If the day starts and the player has 0 Banked Games - they lose 25 Rating Points - this repeats ever day as long as the player doesn't play a game to gain Banked Games

What this means is that, if you have 0 banked games, you can play 5 games to reach 5 banked games. You will lose 1 banked game per day, so for 5 days you can not play any games and you will not lose rating, until you reach 0 Banked Games.

Of course, once the players drop below 1800, they don't have the banking system anymore, they will only lose rating if they don't play in the next 21 days due to inactivity.

Score for winning games is trash atm. Is nearly impossible to climb, because top players will probably play less.
Im getting +2 points for 3rd place, +7 for 2nd and losing -15 for 6th.
There was no score reset weekly so the people on top, climbed with previous points system.
It's really unfair , taking into account lobbies ELOs aren't important while matchmaking.

There 's always this thing with Illuvium when we change the rules in the middle of a Season or test "new stuff" ... Including the daily "balance" patch when new players are getting used to a playstyle ... idk, perhaps im kinda frustated of losing 2 games in a row ☠️ ,just saying what´s on my mind rn.

There is a certain comp with 6nature 3fire that is pretty easy to play and it destroys both air and psion comps.
I'll post it tomorrow in the public document, along with other comp to help you guys come up with ideas to counter stuff!

There is also another comp that combines bulwarks with empaths and make it nearly impossible for air to do anything, as they legit lack the damage to do anything. Do what you will with this information.

Don't forget about hyper - it does a really good job at countering certain comps that tend to go vertical.

Air is strong, yes, especially against fighters. But I assure you it is far from OP, it has its own hard-counters.

I guess I can post the nature + fire comp I was talking about so you can try it out until I put all the comps in the document, but beware that probably many people will try it :D.

It is an Air destroyer but it's great against many other comps too.

1a) In early game, play economy, make use of S2T0 units and maybe T1 units if you get them to S2
1b) Try to get some synergies going to help you win
1c) As you progress, buy any unit that is part of your final comp
2) Level up to 5 when you are 6/10
3) Level up to 6 when you are 8/20
4) level up to 7 when you are 10/30
5) level up to 8 when you are 12/40
6) Now that you are 8, slowly replace what you used to get here with the units that you should have
7) For weapon you want the Scepter - get it to S2
8) For suit you want Xenolink - get it to S2
9) Ideally stay above 40 gold (even more if you are doing well HP-wise)
10) When your HP drops below 40, roll all the money and search for units
11) After all your board is S2, search for S3 Pangolin (Sear) and Taipan (Scoriox)

That's pretty much the gist of it, you might even perfect it, this is just a baseline. Have fun with it!

Well I did take an overlook on all the matches, here's some data I am seeing:

• People still go 5 fighters, but they usually stop at 3 - at that point, I wouldn't even call it a full fighter comp, when there are only 3 fighters out of 8 or 9 units
• From the matches posted there, a full fighter comp managed to get 1st place only 2 times - and in both cases they were completely uncontested
• When contested (2 or more people go for fighters), the players barely gotten 3rd and 4th place (some would get the Malura, others would get the Jotun, others would get the Stabbin)

Aside from this, I have seen a bunch of different comps there, it looks lovely!
Yes, fighters are strong, are reliable, they may get you to top4, but they seem to hardly get you top2 if someone else is going for fighters too.
They have to be strong, otherwise we'd see only corners.

It's up to the players to adapt if there are other players going for fighters in the match or not

What I do agree with is rogues (vertical rogues) being weak - Rogues had their time to shine in multiple other patches, we wanted to let other comps shine this time onwards.
But even though vertical rogues might not be that strong, rogues themselves are still solid to be placed in comps (Malura, Stabbin, Grilla, even Rhamphite in certain conditions).

Note: I am not advocating that the balance is perfect at the moment. All I am saying is that there is nothing worrying going on, I'd personally say that it is in a decent spot until we get the other core features going!

I agree with this. I think the fighters are in a good spot at the moment. There have only been a few days of the new patch, and people are still discovering what's good. As you mentioned, it’s much harder to win with fighters now compared to before, which is a good sign. As you also mentioned, rogues will need some adjustments soon, but we should take small steps to avoid making them too powerful, as they have been in past patches. I also think the water needs some love. No one plays water, and they haven’t after the rework. You might need to revise the higher threshold to something more beneficial, like giving omega power to the team on cast or something similar. Overall, I feel the balance is in a pretty good state at the moment, unit-wise. Items and augments definitely need more work.

Also, I've mentioned this a lot of times before: the weapons are the biggest negative thing about the game right now. It's so random. You can roll 100 gold and still not find a stage 2 weapon, or you can play an entire game until around round 30 and still be stuck with a stage 1 weapon. An easy fix for this would be to increase the weapon pool and improve the odds for certain stages

A conversation about who is in the top 5 players is probably more valid than picking the number 1 player rn. Plus we can't forget we're picking from an extremely small pool of players that actually know the game well enough to being contention for those top spots. When gauntlet is feature complete and the players base matures I think the names being thrown around for the top gauntlet player won't be the ones we're seeing now.

First off, I just want to say thank you for all the hard work you and the team are putting into the game. As a long-time player and passionate fan of Illuvium, I truly appreciate the level of detail, creativity, and dedication that goes into every update and design decision.

That said, I’d like to share some honest feedback regarding the current state of game balance, especially around recent changes to specific units.

Lately, I've noticed that Rough seems to be completely out of the meta, which is a bit disappointing. The only consistent counterplay I’ve been able to rely on in the corner is through my Ramphyre and Ace – and even then, it feels like they stand no real chance against Empaths, especially when paired with Bulwarks.

I understand that Bulwarks were extremely strong before, but it feels like they’ve been over-nerfed. Right now, they seem to die far too quickly, and as a result, there's no real frontline presence to hold off Empaths or sustain a proper engagement. That imbalance can be frustrating, especially when you're trying to break through a well-set defensive comp.

I trust the vision you have for the game, and I know balance is a constant challenge, but I would really love to see Rough make a meaningful return. It’s one of the most visually striking and skill-intensive lines in the game, and it deserves a fair place in the current meta.

i'm not sure what u're talking about with regards to empaths, that class is complete garbage the only unit worth playing is fern, but rogues the trait is absolutely weakest it's been, and i'd like it a lot if they shifted some power from the individual rogues like slashin and malura into the actual trait, out of any class in the game rogues are the one class that should always be somewhat forced to go vertical otherwise it creates complete cancer gameplay

I think the game design has moved more and more away from hyper being the deciding factor in matches for good reasons. It's very bad for skill expression if you are outplaying your opponent but still lose because he won the rock paper scissors when selecting his team.

If that was more designed around counterplay it would make more sense to have more weight on hyper, but since the decision for which team you play is usually made in the first half of the game, but then who you are facing in the final moments is decided in the later half, it feels like rng.

We'll get there in terms of balancing. Bulwarks were over-nerfed in the past, but I feel like most of the problem comes from the default Attack Damage of units. We have a lot of ways to gain Attack Damage now, especially via Augments, so a global damage nerf might be needed, but nothing too harsh.

I have a couple of changes in mind for the next balancing patch. The good thing is that after the next patch we can easily iterate values again.

For clarity, what exactly doesn’t work? Does it never proc for any illuvial it’s equipped on? Does it not activate when it should? Does it not Blink to the lowest health enemy? Is the illuvial still targetable?
