I'm fine with mining - I'm just tired of the morphopods. Annoying like flies & mosquitos. Way too many.

Personally, I would like the Region Areas to double in size so there is more space to create a sense of hunting & exploration. The first half is a great entry place but the other half should contain more difficult pathing including interesting caves, high mountains and dangerous outcrops that are more challenging to reach. This way they could have made Boot, Jetpack, Grappling Hook upgrades a necessity to cross chasms, jump to ledges and position high value Illuvials (like Rhamphyres) in nests that you have to reach. A real sense of progression... If you die you go back to start. To cross a big chasm you may need to also obtain a booster pack from an NPC as part of a Quest. The second half should feature the more powerful Tier 4 and Tier 5 as well as a few rare exotic plants and is an area that does not have to be entirely noob friendly...

if someone has a skin on that makes it seem like some 'special effect' or whatever is going on it could be come quite confusing for people

in the autobattler it would be the case - in a less strategic/pvp game, we could probably at some point introduce effects like that if we wanted,, but that would be up to gamedesigners i guess 😄

This looks great - but just playing devils advocate here.

I don’t think the illuvial preview getting an upgrade is going to move the needle much.

Using the art team to provide more story based 15 second videos like the Squizz clip that can be put on tik tok to spread our IP/show their personality would seem to be a better use of the teams time.

Try and do what pudgy have done and make our characters go viral (which is definitely achievable).

I haven’t seen any more of those clips since the first one

Unfortunately, we can't afford it right now from team size perspective nor financially.

I myself want to do them so bad and as soon as there is room to get a new one in we will jump into it 100%
It does take 3-4 people to work on each of those for 1.5-2 weeks to make one 15 sec video from start to finish.

That said, for now we can produce those updated illuvial previews at least with very little involvement of the rest of the team.
I hope you see more of the custom one soon.

I'm pro AI, yet only for things that speed up documentation or intuitive gameplay, like real time responsive NPCs and bosses ect. Perhaps you could mix both. Keep your art original,yet use time savings where it counts and doesn't affect you and your team's ethos on the integrity of your goals.
A professional using Ai is going to have a greater impact than a person who is not.
I think it's worth while considering how you can use it as many companies will be.
The characters are already a combination of many different IPs so I'm not really convinced on the using others work argument.
My 2 cents. For all it's worth.
PS. I'm loving the evolving look of the art in all areas.

Big agree, being resistant to AI (and any technology) for moral or purist reasons is fine for personal projects.. but imo doesn’t belong in business where getting the best result, as quickly as possible for the best price should be the priority

I half agree. It’s one thing to just say “use AI”, it’s another to find the right use case and find quality results. In many fields it is way too early. For instance, 3D object generation. For others, it has a place like documentation.

I currently work with AI tools in a professional sense (AI product manager), and it’s much easier to say “use AI” because it’s the hot narrative than it is to make it work. I think the team should absolutely be playing around with it. But should also focus on where their own skills lie.

Certainly, I'm not saying it's "Press a button and AI does it all", I'm saying use it to augment what you're already doing.

You can pick and choose when to use it, how to use, and how much to use it.

We just delivered a TCG inspired by Magic..200 Card Arts delivered in 2-3 weeks with 2-3 weeks of touch ups and overpaints to address any issues.

The end result is 200 Card Arts that look incredible for a TCG... the end user sees amazing art and great gameplay..

6 weeks of effort versus 6-months+ of custom drawn art

OpenAI is still unavailable and I count them as the most advanced.

What has to be done:

• feed AI all of our animations and look so it can learn and identify all the elements.
• have a more fine tune control over the output when it'll produce a scripted video. Not different result every iteration, but adjusting bits and pieces.
• need a dedicated person/team for all of this.

Producing static images went quite far, but for the videos I yet to see something more than just random cherry picked shots.

from my artistic side it kind of sucks that all this AI been fed with the artworks that we created for ages and they just got away with it.
from the business though it does makes a lot of sense to start using it where you can implement it.

In your example it totally make sense, and I think it's the right way to move. Artists do have to adapt and start utilizing it to their advantage and should see it as some sort of promotion I guess.
Like before AI you do all by hand, now you've got a tool to speed up the base, but still turn it into your own piece of art.

The AI art would have been wholly unusable without the artist conducting a pass over each Card Art to remove issues with the AIs output.

Ai tools for artists atm cant design and u have next to no control on what it generates. If its used to show or express an idea to other artists, a 25sec sketch is going to give the other person a better context of the idea and work they will have to do than a rendered image.

You can very quickly make fantastical images, but non of it was your idea or creation, and u have no idea why it looks the way it looks. Its just random vomit at this moment. Im sure it going to change in the future, but atm not so much.

I do see how it could be superhandy in automating certain tasks or helping as an assitent. (Ps im writing this from my jobs perspective atm)

In my job atm i use it much more for writing and as a knowledge base rather than art.

Totally true for professional use case and constant same picture output this would need better base models and also a loooot of fine tuning.
It will be workable eventually but not right now. Also it's super expensive for big projects.

What I would be super interested is to integrate NPC's which role play personalities and totally immerse yourself in the game.
But releasing them to freely explore the world won't be possible as the cheap models are still too stupid and good models like sonnet 3.5 too expensive.
I did that with minecraft it's mindblowing but costs are skyrocketing to let them go wild.

At the moment even the new gemini flash or haiku 3.5 are still too expensive for web2 games but for web3 games this could work if npc's are static but then what's the point.

Integration via API would be super easy but linking it to characters with animations and finding usecases which make the game better must be a lot of work.

I will say though, I'm not a fan of these do-overs for illuvials. An atlas should be an atlas. We're basically making them like T0's. Creating an atlas for every affinity.
