You spot a titanor and you battle it in OW, after a certain threshold you can opt to drag them into arena for a capture?

If i remember right, the Battles will still take place on a battleboard.
You hunting titanor, a wake opens and titanor flees into it then you have a certain amount of time to get into it aswell before it disappesrs.
Thats Like a very old memory of one of the Team members explaining it.

I actually agree . The initial trailer and the thing that originally got me hyped for the game was the ability to see the illuvials running around in the OW. I’m all for delaying it, if we can actually meet that

I really like the sound of some difficult battles in the OW. You’ll have people bringing in illuvials and teams specifically designed to counter a level 40 Rhamphyre. Then if they find a level 40 Adorius instead they’ll just need a new keyboard. But making catch rate lower would necessitate making cheaper runs in the OW.

This isn't exactly true. It's possible for the different regions to show different resources, illuvial bubbles, etc for each player but be on the same map. This is fairly common in MMOs.

also the possibility of an extraction game mode for the Overworld. Would be hard to balance but definitely possible.

Can't remember if this has been spoken about before. If we are worried that cheap runs = too many worthless illuvials on market place, could we implement a mechanic where you sacrifice illuvials to boost the level of another, for example you burn a lvl 10 Archie to make your level 25 Archie go to -> level 26 Archie? This would be a good way to give value to low level illuvials and keep them coming off the markeplace shelves. Leviathan arena enjoyers especially would probably sweep illuvial floors hard if it meant getting their illuvials through the final levels of say 90 - 100.

Then you have a better market in the ecosystem where casual players, or players that don't invest much $ into their teams and runs initially, can farm low level illuvials and sell them to people who are trying to sacrifice them to speed level their own. I'd say the team has thought of this or something similar?

I've shared the trailer to a few folks and the feedback I received across the board is that it looks overwhelming. On a positive note, they still seem interested to give it a try.
Imo, it would have been better to place fewer units on that board. It seems that we went a bit over the top highlighting the graphics / VFX. Perhaps, showcasing the actual game play (top-down) would have helped.

I literally came here to make the same comment. It was overwhelming even for me at the first watch, and I know what's happening. But for someone who's first exposure is this trailer (a lot of people on the epic store, I imagine) without more context this could come across as a colorful chaos where they have no idea what just happened. They will not know - and appreciate - that this was an actual game play footage and the camera angles are just showing the cinematic possibilities. The trailer was too much for me. I had to watch it a couple of times to understand what the point of it was. I did not understand, even though I knew what was happening and should have 😅😂

Very colorful though. Just wished it would've shown normal gameplay too. It wouldn't have hurt to mix in sequences where you pick cards and place them on the board. Also the action cuts were too quick in my opinion, felt like scenes switched every micro second. There was not a chance to take in, understand and enjoy an attack before moving to the next one. Too much to fast.

I feel you and agree to a large extent. It felt more akin to a cinematic teaser, than a gameplay trailer, which is still cool. I personally would have loved to have seen a pvp trailer where we seen a battle of strategic decisions as one player frustrates and outsmarts their opponent by making smart Illuvial placements. The balance of battle would swing back and forth between the two players until one is victorious. Maybe show UI, or maybe just show visuals of the rangers calling down Illuvials onto the board to counter and frustrate their opponent ranger. The end could be one ranger defeating/killing the other ranger as their pvp health points finally run out.

I would recommend an adjustment to the marketing strategy. Currently, it seems the marketing strategy is simply to push the amazing art and animations, which are truly awesome--but to steal competitive TFT players, you'll need to captivate their interest in the competitive side as well. As I mentioned previously, focusing in on the competition side, the satisfaction of beating an opponent, the thrill and anticipation of winning and losing--that's what will captivate that crowd.

[Update: Team has something for competitive e-sports in the works. I have no idea exactly what. They are being tightlipped. Makes sense. The following is how I would recommend proceeding to launch the competive ILV scene.] My other big suggestion is just to go ahead and announce an Illuvium World PvP Tournament with a combined $1,000,000 prize pool or greater (could be scheduled for 2025 to work out any bugs and plan the event). Have online qualifiers for each region of the world in the months head of time. Bring together the top players for a live e-sports event. This kind of tournament is something I know the team has planned, but having a huge prize pool for competitive players to think about, also really captivates our attention and would motivate competitive players to practice, learn, and get excited about the game. Not just playing for the chance to win, but most of us would just be excited to watch such a tournament, bet on it, etc.

It would also so the ILV team has a broader marketing strategy beyond just the gameplay clearly planned out, which will boost investor confidence.

there were some other games I played where the fast ques worked though because system would accurately represent the difference in rank vs skill difference, those were great

illuvium doesn´t have draw rng, it is fundamentally different game

downside of running "tech" cards is they are bad in X% of games, so if you run too many (1 could be too many already depending on what the meta is) you just draw a useless card that could have been a good card every now and then, which might not increase your winrate in the end, also the "tech-card" argument goes towards giving more agency towards draw rng, not skill in choice of deck or building it in the end

in the illuvium example, the clear downside is having minus 1 slot, so if your pref not rock paper scissors example, the meta could have 6+ teams and teching vs every of them doesnt work
