There's a misunderstanding of what is actually going on. Nobody throws a shard at the Illuvial. The shard is stored in the drone. What you are doing is selecting which Illuvial to capture, and which shard to use. It's a selection thing. I think people are too Pokemon-centric and think that you throw a ball at them.

The drone has already temporarily captured the Illuvial when it faints in battle. But it needs to capture it onto the shard for it to be permanent, otherwise it will escape the drone.

So in a sense the drone IS the pokeball.

We have planned a small cinematic of a new Ranger doing <redacted super secret stuff> and the Illuvial has a look that says "seriously?".

You are welcome to try, but when an IIP comes through that I think is very bad for the game (and this would be one of those) I will oppose it as best I can. There are thousands of ways to damage the economy and not many ways to make it better. We have thought about these things for over 2 years now and there is usually some thought into why we do what we do.

For example, if we gave you a 'starter illuvial' like Atlas we would instantly destroy the entire game's economy. It's not often obvious why things can be bad so we try to categorise decisions by what the underlying impact is.

"Certainty" is always bad for the economy.
"Something for nothing" is always bad.

I don't want to discourage people from coming up with ideas. But honestly, I think the ratio of ideas that seem cool on the surface but are actually really bad for the game is really high in here. I usually know because I've had those ideas first, and then stepped through why we can't do them. This is a very hard game to design "cool and NOT game breaking" ideas for.

Grant was saying that fusing animation is just a place holder at the moment, and will eventually be done at the console in the middle at Sanctum Mesa.

Not anytime soon. The sanctum mesa may become a player hub in a while, but going on a run will be a solo experience.
Later on, but not determined when, they may make some kind of multiplayer experience in the overworld 👍

The PvP arena is currently also in development and you will be able to go to the Arena and battle other players 1v1 when it is done. This should be one of the features of the Open Beta when that release happens.

I don't know about the long term plans but what I've seen multi player would ruin it and make it like everything else. I think people are missing the atmosphere created by a lone ranger set on a mission to find illuvials as yet mission unknown, throw that in the mix, could change the whole meaning of the game.

In terms of core gameplay & the system mechanics I'm sure it's all gravy. The community spitting ideas around when the game isn't even out & these systems aren't being utilised yet is going to keep happening all the way through to open beta I'd assume. I've got 100% faith that leaving these things alone until they've been rigorously tested after launch is the best way forward.

As for the little intricate details of the game, there'll be heaps that the community see and point out that the team will likely already know about & are working on, or they'll agree that something needs tweaking.

In the 7 or so hours I've watched so far, there's been half a dozen things pointed out by both the viewers & the streamer. It's going to be awesome being so early to play it & help give feedback to make this project even better in the long term.

I think the Crimson Wastes loading screen could be improved. It was probably once a cool capture, but now it is no longer the prettiest vista you could take of the zone. It also has some of the plants/mushrooms duplicated close to each other. Even some of the shots of Dmitriy in Leaks would make for a better loading screen

There is a health bar of your illuvials that is also shown in the storage.

The idea a while ago, was that it takes time for illuvials to heal back to maximum. So i think that is the soft limiting factor.
You might still be able to go on expeditions to gather materials and consumables to speed up the healing. But encounters would be troublesome.

I imagine that once you have 100 illuvials, you can rotate the healthy ones in while letting the unhealthy ones heal up. At that point you should be able to play without holding back?

5000 crypton per day, that's Infinite T0 runs + either 8 Stage 1 runs or 4 stage 2 runs or 1 stage 5 run.

it doesn't run on low spec systems and has to be a completely different set up

I think the idea is game designs just mess around with the sliders until the colour looks cool. What grant is insinuating is that they can translate the rgb values from real world objects so the textures are accurate. Or at least accurate as a screen can represent it

The console its on is low power, theres clipping in game left right and centre, theres no voice acting, theres legit not a lot of innovation just the same as before with quality of life additions, if ur analysing it as a graphic artist its straight trash sure

But with all that, the game was still highly engaging, when little clipping things happened I found myself not minding because I was enjoying myself so much by how alive the game felt, the story although cliche in parts I actually found very engaging and it really spoke to things that are meaningful in the world today,

The game doesnt take any huge risks, but it does deliver on what pokemon has been good at, and i enjoyed it

It seems like fair criticism, we've seen so many broken games that could have been caught before launch getting pushed out. Cyberpunk, New World, Pokemon. FYI Polar bear is nearly ready for game integration. I believe it's in QA for art.

Drop Bear is the second last Illuvial, so it's not there yet. I believe it's in the final stages of animation. (So some weeks away from integration)
