1. Yes you need equal value to participate in a liquidity pool whether it’s on sushi, uni, pancake or a different platform
2. WETH is wrapped Ether. It’ll usually just automatically wrap it for you but you pay a bigger gas fee. It’s still cheaper than making a transaction from Eth to Weth
