silly question - I'm just wondering how to buy ILV when it is out. As far as I know/understand... This is the process - Buy ETH from Binance (0.01% fee) - Transfer ETH to Metamask ($17 fee) - then SWAP ETH for ILV on Balancer ($20 fee on average). Then you have $ILV!!! Is this right?
I was thinking on buying $100 worth of $ILV but it seems like the fees alone will eat all my money :/ Please correct me if I am wrong. Or is this project only for the people who have more money? 😄

Both pools give rewards in ILV. In either pool you can forgo ILV to get sILV which can be used in game.

There still is an element of strategy , for example knowing which illuvial to use for a particular environment or battle , which shard to use for a particular illuvial , for example if really rare illuvial then it can escape, i am not a gamer and personally don’t know if I’ll get bored with an auto battler , but if there is enough to keep you busy and keep your mind deciding what to do then it could be good

The underlying mechanics are that we start with a weight value that says 'The ILV in this pool is worth 98% of the total value, and the ETH is worth 2%". By the end of the sale the weights will say "The ILV is worth 60%, and the ETH is worth 40%". (Although we might slightly change these weights).

What that means is that over the course of the pool's lifetime ILV is dropping in price. However, that percentage starts off being calculated based on 1m coins in the pool. If someone buys, the number of coins drops and THOSE coins still need to be worth the same percentage. Which means that the price of each individual coin has to go up.

So in the end you get a system like flappy bird where the bird is constantly dropping, but being 'tapped up'. In this analogy ILV price would be the bird, gravity is the weighting system, and taps are purchases.

This is why we tell everyone to do their own research. If you personally think ILV is worth X, wait until it gets down to that level. If others think it is worth more, then it won't get down to your price and you wouldn't have an opportunity to buy. But if you are using money that you need for living, please be careful.

I can't tell you what will happen during the sale. There have been some balancer bootstraps where the coin drops 10x before people buy. There have been others where it drops 10%. And there have been some where it ends up higher than the starting price.

Yes. It is a strictly limited supply. We do yield farming over 3 years, where about 60% is farmed in the first year. But after 3 years there will be no additional coins minted. And because we have this extra system called sILV where people can take their yield as an in game currency, it is possible that the supply can be as low as 7m.

Seed investors are locked for 12 months, and then an additional 12 months after that where they are unlocked linearly. So they cannot sell their coins. If they choose they can stake their coins in the ILV / ETH pool which adds liquidity, but this is very different from them exchanging ILV for ETH actively. And having more liquidity should help to stabilise the price.

Mine will be locked in the ILV pool because I don't have the ETH to LP.
