not a big fan of that wagner guy, i think he’s too childish to be ceo of anything, but he did bring up a good point, which is that the illuvium team has yet to produce/publish anything of substance on the blockchain. I do not count Illuvitars (though I am a fan) because pfp/NFT projects litter the space, many morons have done it before us.

from what I understand it isn’t as simple as copy-pasting code from one language to the other and calling it a day. We seldom if ever get updates about the back-end and blockchain development, maybe they think it’s just not sexy to talk about that.

I mean, is it a sure thing that OV, Arena and IZ can function as complete games on the blockchain? Or is it something they just do not know yet and are still testing and hoping with crossed fingers that somehow it works ?

is it far fetched to think that Open Beta may keep on being delayed until Kieran eventually says to us “ Listen guys, we had hoped to bring illuvium to the blockchain but we’ve underestimated the difficulty of bringing these games to the blockchain and it is just not feasible anymore. We’ll simply release them as Web2 games.” I mean, they would still be great games, except for the part that we wouldn’t be able to really own our assets—which would REALLY suck!

Kieran did briefly discuss the blockchain side of things on his AMA with Scoriox. From how he put it they have started working on the blockchain things and even things like illuvials and deck building is being tested on test net and from the illuvium zero updates it sounds like blueprints are being tested on chain too

What illuvitars is doing on-chain is not that different from what the overworld will be doing on-chain. Something will be minted when needed. Something(s) will be burnt in order for something new to be minted. Specific nfts will have unique data that can be used by the game.

Blockchain guys are working on the Staking contracts, 24 Collections for Open Beta, Testnet Faucets (as required), Fuel Exchange, L2 Minter, Deck Builder, Data/Analytics & on-going research.

Noting that we're currently also migrating from Goerli to Sepolia across 4 environments.

We have only deployed the contracts we require to Production.

The Blockchain components aren't the time consuming part of what we're doing either, he should focus on game-dev... although they went with a browser based game and halted development if I'm not mistaken
