Rewards from staking have to be manually claimed and GAS fees for those transactions have to be paid:

• When you stake ILV yield farming rewards start piling up for you
• You claim those rewards whenever you deem the pile to be big enough to justify gas fees
• If you claim sILV2 you have it unlocked right away (sILV2 is only usable in game as a substitute currency for ETH outside the marketplace and the Leviathan Arena)
• If you claim ILV then that batch of ILV gets locked for 12 months and automatically staked in the ILV pool with a token weight of 2.0 for compounding effect
• New rewards start piling up....rinse and repeat

NB: ILV paid out as part of Illuvium’s Revenue Distribution have to be claimed as well but are not subject to a locking period.

Thoughts on adding a like 0.000001% chance or something ridiculous when fusing you have the chance to turn the illuvial holo. Makes it Gatcha esq and you get the hype if you manage to actually get it. Same for crafting, make weapons/armour chance for a rare variant or holo esq item when crafting. Same stats just rare, also gives people a reason to craft rather than buy.

The Alpha test is being done in two stages. Right now, we're in Stage 0.

Total wipe on Feb 21st when the team transitions from Stage 0 of the Alpha to stage 1 of the Alpha.

Then there will be another wipe when the Open Beta launches. Land plots will be reset back to 0 but any blueprints you found after Feb 21st, you'll still keep.

Can someone convince me the current setup for fuel price stabilization makes sense? I’ve not had a great opinion on it since hearing about the mechanism, but @torpid sleet video really echoed my concerns.

Yeah, part of the problem is that there is no clear outline for what keeps the lower bound of the rail. Releasing more land/printing fuel from the DAO can easily be used to keep the upper bound in check, but that’s the easy one.

You should check out IIP-20 - One of your assumptions about the current model is incorrect, Fuel is not pegged to USD.

With that said, there does need to be more information shared about some of the details of how everything will be implemented.

Outside of IIP-20, not much official has been said. AFAIK no one has stated that in-game purchases are pegged to USD either.

The only thing that has been said for sure is that an in-game action will cost a fixed amount of Fuel.

Global fuel production on Zero land should follow general market usage. That’s the best way to both maintain a general peg for prices in Overworld while allowing individual land owners to impact it within reasonable bounds.

I think the "ideal" way for it to operate in the current system is to have somewhat dynamic production of Fuel. It's definitely not perfect, but I'd like to hear explicitly how the team wants to make everything work.

FWIW I'm largely with you that player's real cost to play fluctuating (even within the rails) could create a negative experience. I think the idea (as it was explained during IIP-20) is that players could buy Fuel when it's low, and spend it or sell it when it's high. If someone has 375 Fuel on Tuesday, it will get them the same thing on Wednesday. It basically incentivizes being a Fuel trader if you want to play the game.

Overall the general way I understand everything working is that the rails handle short term fluctuations (the DAO tap withdrawing or supplying Fuel to the balancer pool), and Fuel production balance handling the larger trends over longer time periods (like you mentioned, going from, for example, 100k to 300k players over 2 months).

Yeah I see what you’re saying. And adjusting the fuel production based on demand could work, but I personally don’t think it’s a good option.
As land owners we want to know that if we upgrade our extractors to X level we will get X amount of fuel.
Imagine spending to upgrade an extractor to the next level and by the time that extractor finished the fuel production when lower than the previous level.

Obviously there’s no way for me to personally benefit from the model I laid out, but I honestly feel it’s a better option all around.

i keep coming back to the oil industry - we're running the oil rigs right now. While we can keep upgrading and honing production, it's only worth as much as we can sell it for. You can always pump more oil, but is that the best investment of resources based on global demand. If there's only a dozen cars on the road and 20k oil wells, we're not making that much money.

the key protection is balancing overworld players to keep their experience from being negatively impacted by land owners, and also the responsibility to ILV stakers expectations on revenue. Pulling too hard on one side of the triangle - land owners - risks disrupting the experience of the other sides

Removing the rails entirely is a possibility, but the rails are in place to help protect against short term volatility.

Once the systems are in place to balance fuel production (and working properly), removing the rails could be a great option.
